Thought I'd start this thread now.

Season debut Thursday May 24 2012 at 8PM .

After some R&R, Cat will be back.

Best host on any reality show IMO!
Anyone catch her on "Life's too short"?

Don't know if you saw Dmitri Chaplin and Anya Garnis on last week's DWTS results show.

Fabulous dancers, both.

I've given up on that show, unless I'm really interested in a contestant. I may watch the finale though.

I did and it was nice to see. I've actually spotted quite a few SYTYCD alumni on DTWS this season, good to see them getting work after SYTYCD
DSperber, Nice photo for our OP I sure hope Cat wins the reality show host award this year, she deserved it last year but it eluded her.
Here's hoping for a great season, kind of bummed it will only be once a week though I guess the results show will be rolled into the beginning of performance show?
post #6 of 577
Hoping to find someone as exciting and fun to watch as Melanie. Have they said definitively how they're handling eliminations this year now that there's only the performance show each week?

She also had a bit part (as herself) on an episode of "House of Lies".

And she was also a celebrity judge on "America's Next Top Model".
post #8 of 577
^^^ my wishlist on Tivo picked her up America's Next Top Model(which really didn't have a lot of her) but not Life Is Too Short or House Of Lies, I'm assuming they are cable programs...(I'm only OTA).

I guess she will just have to be content to pocket that $12M/yr as consolation.

Michael posted these interviews of Nigel and Cat et al in the old thread. And in Cat's interview she says that the audience and dancers will know who's in danger at the start of each show, but she doesn't give any details of how it's going to work.

Their = belongs to them
There = a place
They're = a contraction of 'they are'

That's because "alluded" is a real word too, and spelled correctly. Just happens to be the wrong word in a sentence where "eluded" is the right word.

At least with forum posts there is an "edit" capability. When you do this in an email, and there's no "whoops key" to make the correction after-the-fact, it's often embarrassing. And you kick yourself that spell check isn't "smarter".

There's a lot of people on the Internet that need help with "payed/paid".

Still a few more days until the premiere. Can post my complaints about people's spelling until then?

Yaknow, D, I'm "a dog person," but she's one Cat I'd snuggle up with any day! (response to your opening post)

Oh, and thanks for "picking up my slack" this year. After beating you to the punch the last two years, I've been sort of AVS-AWOL this year until today. I got too involved in too many threads eating up too much of my time last year. But SYTYCD, WELL, that's just DIFFERENT! I've never seen a show that's had the impact on me that show has, and I can't explain it. I don't watch ANY of the other competition shows... No "AI," nor "X-Factor," nor "Greatest American" this or that. I TRIED watching DWTS a couple seasons, since Chelsie Hightower was on it (and I'm CRAZY about Tom Bergeron), but I finally just couldn't take what they call a "star" on that show. This season, when, by accident, I saw Chelsie and her partner were getting close to the semis, I followed the NEWS of the show. But after they were eliminated, I quit doing even that. OH, and they'll put a REAL professional dancer on (like Nicole Scherzinger), and then make a big deal about how well she dances as she "waltzes her way" all the way to that stupid little plastic mirror-ball trophy (I think that was my final season).

SYTYCD, on the other hand, it's just more "pure." I mean, not that some of the contestants aren't also already seasoned pros to some extent (like Alex, who quit the Miami Ballet to be on the show). But they're still mostly all young and enthusiastic and "full of light." That's the only way I know to put it.

The new one-show-a-week format should be interesting. Supposedly Nigel said that they were going to announce a bottom three from the previous week's show at the end of this week's show and the eliminated people at the beginning of each week's show. They will have seen the bottom 3 dance a final dance during the previous week's show, presumably without know that they were in jeopardy, so there'll be no "dance for your life" solos. We'll see. Apparently there was only one show a week in Season 1, so it's not the first time they've had to work with that..
post #19 of 577
This is the only season that I've ever watched DWTS; being a tennis fan, I started in order to check out Martina Navratilova, who was eliminated first. After that I kind of just kept watching, having been sucked into it. It's a whole lot cheesier than SYTYCD but not actually horrible. I don't think that I'll start watching when the new season rolls around.

I've just about given up on MOST of it, Skyehill! One thing that's REALLY irritated me about chat "lingo" almost from day one has been all the "shortcut" words (some, I think, just to be cute, or "kewl"). "R U cuming 2nite?" and similar sort of junk. It wouldn't be so bad if many folks already didn't know how to spell and/or decent grammar. But the high prevalence of this sort of thing is bound to have some folks not even knowing how to spell words like "are" and "you" before very long! In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if most of the folks who use those "shortcuts" already don't.

I had an "in-person" friend I first met through a local chat room who was a high school math teacher who consistently spelled "probably" "prolly," and then actually admitted to me she DIDN'T KNOW the proper spelling of the word! I told her she shouldn't be allowed to teach in a public school if she couldn't spell any better than that!

Sorry for the OT rant, but then again, we ARE still three days away from the start of the season, and I fear our society is headed for something resembling "the tower of Babel."

We all have our peeves about language misuse, and it's sometimes hard to contain.
Mine is that "of" is not a verb! The word usually intended is "have".

OK. I've said it. Now I'll try hard not to worry about it any more.

Can't wait for this to start.

This one is absolutely driving me crazy. I learned how to spell verbs in the third grade yet this "should of" misspelling has swept the Internet in just a few years. I always stop reading after seeing this because I assume the person never reads anything.

And please, no more "loose" for "lose".

And now, I just saw an article that tells us that there will now be TWO winners in season 9 - one male and one female.

Frankly, I've always sort of felt there should be (as long as they don't split the prize money).

HOWEVER, if the sexes are FAR out of balance (i.e., if the women, overall, are far better than the men, or vice versa), then perhaps having a winner from each sex isn't particularly right, or fair.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

LOL! Truth. Billy could also accept the female award. Of course, Sasha could get the male one as well.

So we're sure Cat will be back? Just saw a promo for a new show starting June 7th, The Choice which will be hosted by Cat......if so, boy she's sure going to be busy this summer

Any news on the judges panel this year? I know there will be a male and female winner this year as well as only one episode per week instead of two.
post #30 of 577
"We are going to have two winners this year, one male and one female. It's something that we wonder why we didn't do it in the first place. We should have done it years ago!"

I'm sure people like Kathryn McCormick and Brandon Bryant agree!
