I take it that this thing isn't exactly flying off the shelves at $10K. Any owner's on avsforum yet?

I had my heart set on the 90 in. But after comparing the specs on the sharp web site to the 80 in. The 80 in is the clear winner.

Brianna these are basically cut from the same cloth so how does the 844 have a clear advantage?
specs for 90 in: dynamic contrast ratio 8,000,000:1
specs for 80 in dynamic contract ratio 10,000,000:1

Quad pixel technology is only found on the 80 in. the 90 in does not have it.

native refresh rate for 90 in 120HZ
native refresh rate for 80 in 240HZ

As an owner of both the 80 632 and the 80 844 I can tell you those arent any real advantages. I am partial to the fact that the non quattron models are able to be
calibrated to produce a slightly better pq. But then again it all comes down to what your own eyes see

I just installed the beast in my HT room yesterday. The picture and the size are amazing. My local dealer did not stock this model and had to have one shipped in from another of their stores, so I was unable to compare the 80 and the 90 side by side. I bought it sight unseen. I honestly didn't notice the difference in the spec on the dynamic contrast ratio, but I did see that there was a difference the in the refresh rate. I watched the Wembeldon Tennis match for an extended period of time in the store comparing similar sized TV's with 240 vs 120 Hz refresh rate. To my eye, I could see no difference, but I think a lot of people can see it. I decided to go ahead and spring for the larger screen size. I have not had time to do any calibration yet, but I think I am going to be very pleased with the purchase. As it is, the picture is pretty amazing. I considered going with a projector, but this is the largest screen size I could fit in the room anyway. I can't imagine a projector having a better picture, only a larger one, so that is what swayed me to the LED.

Congrats! Show us pics of your setup with the beast in it!

Why, you have a discussion thread and this is the owners thread?

The other thread has owners already. There are going to be few owners of this set so personally i dont see the need for two separate threads.

Anyone been able to break the UPP price protection anywhere. I just saw this set. For where I sit (about 9-11 feet) I can use it as A MONITOR and not squint.... kinda nice. I want to use it, as I have with my 73" DLP that must go, as both HTPC, Gaming system, and monitor. Moving back 3 feet (to 9-11) makes seeing the 70" elite impossible for me frown.gif

I was also impressed at the black level (for non-local dimming). When you have a good computer (Ivy Bridge laptop) setup, I was shocked as to how the white and black test patters came out with just basec in store settings (movie mode, backlight at normla etc).

Granted the Elite was better (next to it) but you could really only tell in 100% dark room.

I would have assumed this is the 80" panel blown up, however this looks like a different panel.

Has anyone noticed this? How good the black level is with simply settings vs. the 80" LE844??? Also that damn "blue" LED tint is not present.

WIth the 60" Elite next to it, dual outputing a computer display, I was impressed. Granted, in the store the colors looked not as saturated but that is what calibration is for. The fact you get "black" next to white and UNIFORM white/RED on patterns made me think this was not just an 844 panel with 10 more inches.

Hi, I have the 90 inch on order. Can anyone tell me the footprint dimensions of the table stand?

Thanks,

According to the owner's manual it's 17 3/32" deep x 29 1/32" wide

Since people are posting the same question in both threads, should this thread be closed or merged with the "discussion" thread? It is confusing.

As someone that is looking to purchase one of these, which one would you recommend considering the price difference?

Landoftoz are you looking at a 90 or an 80?
Suzook, billdag, you guys haven't bought one of these yet? I'm perfectly happy with my LC-80, but can't help but yearn for the 90. Practically speaking though, the only thing it would afford me beyond the additional viewing area is the ability to keep it back against the rear wall, making it about 15.5' from my veiwing spot versus the 13.5' now which is needed for the 80" to have satisfactory visual impact. Anxious to see a review by Chad B. Oh, and folks disappointed by no yellow sud-pixel, I've seen very few reviews claiming it had any positive effect, and for whatever reason, those were from foreign reviewers. Appears to be mostly hype.
