Hi guys. Long time lurker here. Big fan.
I bought a new house and have 2 weeks to do a descent home theater set up on a fresh and open living room canvas.
Here is a list of the gear I have aquired so far.
Denon 1912
6 Definitive SM350 bookshelf speakers
1 Definitive CLR2002 center channel
2 Prosub 60 8" subwoofers
Im happy with all except the subs are not big enough to handle the low end bass. They have pretty bad port noise too when driven too hard. On the other hand, they are very articulate.
I was going to put the subs in the den and either get a supercube 1 or make my own subwoofer setup with a 12" or 15" Dayton and a Bash amp.
As I was cleaning out my closet, I found 4 brand bew Aura bass shakers and an Idea hit me. This is where I want to ask you guys if anyone has done this or if this is a good idea or not.
I was thinking of having the Prosub 60s play from 40-80 hz or anywhere around there, and have the bass shakers play 40 and down. This should let me play the Prosubs harder and since they would not play that low, port noise should be minimized or eliminated.
By going this route, I would just need to buy an affordable amplifier and a crossover for the Prosubs vs $500 for a good subwoofer.
What are you thoughts on this? Is it worth the attempt? Has anyone tried anything like this before?
Any help is welcome.
Thanks
