I recently had a last-minute request to do a multi-camera shoot, and borrowed a Panasonic SDR-H40P to do some pickup shots. I recorded the video to the camera's HDD. When the shoot was finished, I connected it via USB, and it isn't recognized (not an MSC device? Custom driver needed? Come on, Panasonic!). I asked the owner for the CD that came with the camera, and they can't find it. Panasonic doesn't offer it for download - only an upgrade to the software that requires the original software to already be installed. Does anyone have the original CD and can send me an .ISO?
Yes, I've searched - nothing available. Yes, I saw that someone wrote SDCOPY for that camcorder, but it doesn't copy from the HDD. No, I haven't found a way for the camera to copy from HDD to SD so I can get the footage off of it. Yes, I have read the manual. I am at a point where my next step would be to connect the camcorder to a USB protocol analyzer and try to write my own driver (VERY time consuming) or disassemble the camcorder to remove the HDD (owner might not like that, but without the software, it's a brick for him as well).
The subject of this shoot would REALLY like the footage from this camera, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
