Newegg has the vsx-1022k, for $299. Price can only be seen at checkout. This is a great deal. $20 less than the beach camera deal and the lowest ever I've seen. I own one of these and they are great.

I bought it from best buy for $300 dollars with 2 yrs extended warranty. I've had it for 2 hours, and I am not really happy with it. I've been trying to control it with my Android phones apps, and I haven't been able to. I was able to set up Pandora, but it only sends stereo to the receiver so the subs its pretty much useless.

I am about 95% sure I will be returning it tomorrow, and give Denon a try instead. It's more money, but it appears the menus are better. I wonder if the phone apps only work with Apple products since it's all I see on their website.

I bought one of these, and I am doing whole house sound and 2 theaters and two other " media centers" if you will and was looking around for the cheapest and easiest way to do this. Im really shocked they don't make an Airplay tuner for say $99 but I will get to my point.

I went to Bestbuy and picked up a 1122 and a 1022 open box and hooked these up and could stream effortlessly from my iTunes on my Mac using Airplay or AppleTV via my iPhone5 using remote. I could never get the silly Pioneer Apps to connect, I always got error messages. You donts need the apps.....what you need is iRule ( I think it does android) I can control EVERY aspect of these receivers and add what buttons are important, and which aren't.

Tonight I streamed Abraham Lincoln Vampire Killer to my Main Theater from a Macbook 2 floors away and on the opposite side of the house without one glitch.........pristine picture and amazing sound all using my iPhone. Check into iRule for your android they have a 14 day free trial, tutorials and Pioneer uses Port 23 just so you know. If you add your Pioneer to your router as a static IP it will be more reliable.......I used an Apple Airport Extreme but changing to a Time Capsule for the 2 Terabyte HD capabilities

Both Pioneers worked flawlessly

If you want to try irule for your android, when it comes to the part to add devices just choose receivers.then Pioneer and do the Zone1, and 2 and there was another choice as well........follow the tutorials and make a simple one for say Power/ Volume/ input...when you actually do the sync this is where you add the IP address and port 23 on your ANDROID and add the 3 Gateways on your Android. Once you get this figured out the sky's the limit and it's so easy

Thanks for the advise. Before i left to work I logged on to the Pioneer App. and it was able to access my vsx1022 receiver and play Pandora without issues. I willgive iRule a try and see if it works better. I wonder if upgrading to a higher model would better as far as UI goes.

If You use iRule you make the GUI, if you try it don't forget to download all their buttons they have Black white, brushed alumnum, glassy, glossy etc etc

I recently picked up the sc-1222k and I agree the software support from pioneer is terrible They have an app for android and I can get it to connect but it only connects from a single device at a time. So only 1 person can control the reciever. The worst part is the app has functions that either do not exist on the remote or are too hard for me to find. Not that I want to use a silly IR remote anyway, however the app does not do all the functions the remote does so pioneer basically built the worst possible solution, a device that you require both a phone and a remote to operate. I do not know if I will return it since all the electronic features of receivers are not so important in the end but it sure is stupid to do things this way. Also you can forget about future support because everyone online complains about how pioneer makes a new app every year for new models and just leaves the old models to suffer.

Will definitely be a long time before I give pioneer electronics a go again. They claim they have features and they do in the most basic sense but those features are half baked and poorly thought out.

Oh one other issue. I have a bad setup in my living room for somethings and MCACC will randomly say that some of my speakers have reversed polarity. this is fine I accept that something might be wrong with sound bouncing here and there but they will not let me skip that part so I cannot continue the calibration. I am just stuck. =[

I'm thinking of returning it and trying out Denon instead. I was trying to go into the set up menu, and I kept getting an message on the display about not being able to change to set up menu. I had to change the function to DVD and then I was able to go to the set up menu. I am still wondering why the receiver doesn't use the subwoofer when I am using Pandora. My old onkyo receiver HT-R960 would use the sub whenever I use the internet radio.

Also, the sound quality isn't good whenever I am playing Classic Rock, which my Onkyo would play perfectly. I am not really happy with it even though I only paid $300 for it with a 2 yr extended warraty. So, I will be returning it today.

This is probably the reason why the Pioneer 1022-k is so inexpensive. Pioneer realize overall it is a bad receiver and they are trying to get rid of them.

I am thinking of replacing it with the Denon 2113ci, which is about $200 dollars more! Or I can go back to my old Onkyo receiver and get better speakers biggrin.gif

Well, I returned the Pioneer, and got in to an argument with one of the Best Buy employee about that there was a 4th generation iPad coming out in Nov. He kept arguing that there was only a new iPad mini. Needless to say I wont the argument and got a $25 dollar gift car out of it lol.

I put back my onkyo, and hooked up my other xbox slim to it. Logged into last.fm, and it sounds awesome. I just hate having the TV on.
