Noise on solid colors Panasonic ST30

I have a 55" ST30 with a noise problem. I have it calibrated with D-nice settings as a base that I then tweaked for my display using the Disney WOW Blu-ray.

I notice a lot of noise on areas of solid solid colors especially blacks or whites. Any time there's a cut between scenes or menus or loading a disc for a playstation game and the screen is entirely black, there's a lot of noise. It almost makes it brighten to grey. That always happens.

The problem is that in other situations, it is intermittent. In Windows, if I have a menu open that is white, sometimes it has noise and sometimes it does not. If I have MPC-HC open with just the black background showing, it is hit or miss on whether it will have noise as well.

My viewing distance is about 6 feet, so I'm not just missing it sometimes. It's definitely there sometimes and others not. Is there some setting I'm missing? Is it a feature to prevent burnin?

6 feet is a little close for a 55" imo. What setting did you land on after the WOW adjustments ?

Thanks for the reply. I like 6 feet as I like to have the screen really large. Settings are:

Contrast 78
Brightness 57
Color 48
Warm 1
Color Space Normal
high r -6
high g -4
high b +2
low r 0
low g -2
low b +4
Black extension +4
Gamma 1.8
Panel Brightness Low

I still need to work on my colors a little. Blacks are really good. I couldn't get the whites perfect in WOW without giving up blacks, so I just got it as close as I could while keeping the blacks in line.

That gamma 1.8 looks fishy to me, the ideal is 2.2. Try mid panel brightness and a gamma of 2.2.
