Superbit Bluray is the least the studios can do after forcing us to wait so long for a full HD Bluray version.

I know this is arguing minutia but I see no reason why every BD we get can't be "superbit" quality. Hell every release seems to be a multi-disc release anyway so what difference does it make? Give us the first disc with nothing but A/V and save the extras for the second disc. Wow flashback to the DVD days. My bad lol.

If you do it right the first time, how do studios get consumers to double and triple dip in the same format for future cash grabs of a title?

...well, unless you're a studio like Warner Bros who simply repackages the same old disc in a new sleeve, generic steelbook or boxed with a cheap toy.

Yep, now re-issuing the Nolan Batman films yet again.

I wouldn't call it kool-aid. There are likewise many examples of them folding.

To be honest, I haven't been counting.

FWIW, I haven't really noticed a trend.
In fact, I have been a little surprised how visceral movies like ZDT have been in showing carnage heaped upon terrorists.

Saw something interesting on Amazon last night. I went to the abyss blu ray "sign up to be notified" page, and saw an interesting item photo. It was a picture of the blu ray box set. I went back to the page later and the picture was gone. I went through my browser cache and managed to find the picture.

Awesome! This is nearly confirmation that it is coming in March of next year, and is getting special treatment so it should look great! And, it's the extended version!

I had no doubt that we would get the extended edition. its the preferred version anyways. Cameron is very good about releasing both versions like he did with terminator 2 and aliens.

Most likely removed because of the fact that it's fan-art.

Identical background, text placement, design and on the top of the spine of the Abyss cover a remnant of the Avatar design underneath the creator forgot to remove.

LOL

So close yet so far.

Had a sad realization the other night while watching the Abyss on cable in supposed HD. Ugh, same ol laserdisc transfer. There isn't even some ancient 1080i transfer made in 2000 to make fun of, erm, I mean enjoy. frown.gif

Yeah. That's the one I saw.

If any movie needed an HD transfer it's this one.

It's sad JC has, deliberately or not, disrespected fans of these 2 movies by not getting out great HD masters.mad.gif

Don't make it personal, he's been a little busy.
Yeah, but he doesn't actually have to be there for most of it. Spielberg was pretty heavily involved in the 3D conversion of Jurassic Park, but he didn't actually spend that much time at the studio, he just popped in now and again to approve stuff and change stuff and give the crew some pointers on how different shots should play out in 3D.

You forgot to remove Avatar art from 3rd disc, buddy. Nice try.

That and he has done just one single movie in the last 10-15 years. The guy can sign for a transfer. He's not that busy.

Hasn't there been Sanctum and Avatar: that's 2? Then there was the Titanic 3D conversion.

But I get your drift: surely re-transfering does not require much input from the Director. Is everyone else involved in Bluray production incompetent at their job that they need to be constantly babysat by the Director?

Don't forget the remastering of Terminator and Aliens, developing and pushing 3-D and HFR camera hardware and pushing standards, setting records for deep sea exploration, building the camera system for the Mars rover Curiosity, finding "proof" of the tomb of Jesus Christ, shooting Avatar 2, 3, and 4, getting sued for copying Avatar, getting married for like the 6th time, going vegan, moving to New Zealand... he's plenty busy... saving the world.

OK, you have a good point, Nathan.

But this is the internet....where all the world's whiners come together.biggrin.gif
