I try to get OTA channels in my area but seems no luck.

Used rabit ear antenna, got only 24-1, 24-2, 24-3, 24-4.

Made DIY with hangers and installed in the attic. Got same channels as above.

Any recommendation for outdoor antenna? Just wanted to get the channels 2,4,5,7,9,11,13.

Your signals are far too weak for reliable attic reception. You need something like this antenna, plus a high gain/low noise preamp like this one. Install up on the roof, as high as possible and aim it using a compass (magnetic direction = 266°).

I guess you've heard some bad reviews regarding the new CM7777, as most pros are now recommending Winegard as well.

tylerSC,
I wrote about one in the "new 7777" thread. It was just a single anectdotal experience with the new 7777, which did not work at all for me, in a location where only two OTA channels could be received, and they were very weak. Swapping it out with an old-style 7777 solved the problem. It's very possible the unit I tried was defective, but I won't be trying any more of them, since they're not available locally here and I have to order them.

Thanks arsaw,

I am planing to get the out door one. My house is two story so the antenna will be about 25 ft high.

I hope there is a way to know for sure that that antenna would work at my location. I don't want go through the headache of returning.

If you're not in a urban area and if your TVFool input was address-based, you might want to use their mapping tool for a more accurate prediction.
Enter your address here: http://www.tvfool.com/index.php?opti...pper&Itemid=90
Find your house, using satellite view.
Drag/drop the red map marker onto your house.
Input the antenna height at the bottom of the map.
Click "Make Radar Plot" at the top of the map.

Based on that TVFool, I would still use the antenna and preamp that I linked to in an earlier post. Nothing is for certain, but that combo should get your major networks, with CBS possibly being iffy.

With hills blocking reception, your first choice for the location of the antenna may not always be the best. Not unlike weak cell service, moving the TV antenna to a different spot a foot or two away (or higher or lower), can make all the difference between good reception and no signal.

Do you have a store that sells TVs nearby that's not a big box store ? Often they know exactly what works in their area.
