Does your sub have to be same as your LCR and surrounds?

I want to upgrade my system. I currently have 2 subs (JBL 8400P and B&W ASW610). These are good subs, and I would like to keep the them.

I want to sell my JBL L890's and LC2, along with B&W 684's along with a B&W HTM2 and upgrade to something very nice. Have no idea what just yet.

My delimma: can I upgrade my towers and center channel and keep those 2 subs without loosing sound quality?

Yes.

I think I'll try to clarify that "Yes". "Yes", you can keep your current subs and upgrade your speakers without losing SQ. Subs don't need to be matched to your other speakers, instead they just need to be sized appropriately for your room and your listening habits.

Yes. Ideally, your front three speakers should be "timbre matched" to each other. (Going with the same make & model line is perhaps the easiest way to ensure this.) Your subs, however, do not need to be similarly matched to your speakers.

Once you get your new speakers, just re-calibrate your system and you should be good to go!
