I purchased my house about 6 years ago and the property already had a home theater set up with an old Toshiba projector installed with coaxial running from the projector to the DVD player by the screen. I recently decided to upgrade the home theater (the toshiba is old and doesn't have the latest features, the screen is an old 4x3 ratio screen and the picture appears to be fading) and went with an epson 3010e to replace the aging Toshiba.
The old setup has a shelf built in to the ceiling of my basement where the old projector was placed. This is basically a wooden shelf built into the ceiling about 8-10 feet from the mounted screen and the space in the shelf is about 10 inches high. It's more than adequate for the epson but the problem I have is that the projector throws the picture high. Currently, I have the projector tilted precariously forward to lower the picture on the wall. Even so the picture is still high. I think the optimum solution would be to flip the projector over and place it so that it sits on the top of the projector and then invert the picture. This is what the previous owner did with the Toshiba; however, they just placed the projector directly on its top on the wood shelf. With the Epson I would prefer to have some type of cushion or stand to go in this small shelf so I can keep the projector from resting directly on the hard surface of the shelf.
I know this is an odd question but does anyone have any suggestions. I was thinking maybe I could find some small cylindrical sand bags of about 6-8 inches in length but I can't find any and I suppose I would have to make these myself.
