The ChannelMaster 4228 UHF antenna works quite well for upper VHF channels. With its flat form factor, it can be mounted against the side of a house, but it is also fairly directional, so you need that side of the house to be facing the transmitters. It's about $60 delivered from Warren Electronics or SolidSignal.
The Palmer Divide will pretty much rule out reception of Denver HDTV signals, regardless of what antenna you use, at least until they go full power from Lookout Mountain (or other high spot). You might be able to get KWGN (WB, DT-34) and KDVR (FOX, DT-32), since both transmitters are already on Lookout, but I believe neither is broadcasting above half power yet.
