Does the receiver still work if HDMI board fails?

I've been reading a lot about HDMI failures on receivers, and I have a few questions as I just bought a Denon 1712 and I need it to last for a long time.

If one of the HDMI port on the receiver breaks, will other ones still work?

If the entire HDMI board breaks, will the receiver still work with analog sources or FM radio?

Should I worry about receiver reliability issues if I mainly use the receiver for FM radio and stereo sources (like a CD player or an iPod)?

I'd worry more if you bought an Onkyo. I've got 2 Denon HDMI receivers and have had no problems with either.

Lots of problems with HDMI boards on Onkyo receivers. Several threads on AVS about it.

If you don't use your receiver HDMI inputs I doubt you'll have any problems. Remember to keep your receiver well ventilated.

Nowadays you cant guarantee any receiver will give you many years of trouble free use.

Not all failures are the same, but with the majority of hdmi failures, everything else continues to work.
