Well the MFR runs are based on how many they sold, so the next batch they won't manufacture as many. And yes, sometimes companies would make more money by doing nothing (actually often), which is why they often end up closing a division or selling it off. Plus all that matters is the complete net profit from A to Z on the unit's lifecycle, sometimes those costs are hard to calculate as they can end up mixed in with other divisions. If they sell a million and make $1 each, they are better off selling 20,000 and making $100 each.
