Can a MOD move this to the General HT area if this isn't the correct spot for it, thanks.

Turning the unused extra garage into a HT started on a whim after we had a child, this way I could enjoy movies and not disturb anyone even at reference volumes. The wife agreed and so it was done

Here is how it started:










Here are some recent pic, although the projector shelf has been moved back and modified. The flash makes it look a lot lighter than it actually is as well:

Thanks. As for the panels I built them, well a friend built the frames (2x4) and I finished them with 2" Johns Manville rigid fiberglass panels and covered them in fabric.

Mr Bill does have a top notch setup!!! Did you put a wood floor over the concrete? In my garage ht I just covered the concrete floor with good padding & carpet which I regretted,but I got bass shakers in my chairs to help feel the bass.When I built it I was thinking that a movie theater has a concrete floor so I thought it would be the best for sq.Again AA++ set up!!!!

I didn't do a wood sub floor. It was just carpet on top of the concrete for the first year then this February I added padding under it. I understand what you are saying about the tactile feel of the bass through a floating floor and I KIND of miss that. It was truly built on a shoestring budget. Hell I didn't add matching seating or baseboards until this past February The 2 Legends also do a good job of shaking the furniture but I may be adding 2 more at some point too

I know about shoestring budget,I paid appx 900.00 to convert my garage to ht.The one other thing I wish I didnt do was to use paneling instead of sheetrock(I dont do shreetrock!)sometimes the walls want to rattle because my 2 svs 1000w subs.I did build the the walls with 2x6 studs since the rest of my house is with osb board & then paneling but I do get some rattling even with insulation stuffed in the corners of the room with scrap carpeting cover with wood to hide it & cover the wood with foam bass traps.Are rooms are appx same size mine is 23x11.6.

Thanks Front row is 10 1/2' and the back row is ~18'.

It made it easier that 3 of the walls were already finished We just had on to build. It is finished on the thater side and just drywalled on the work area side. If I was going to build one from scratch it would have OSB on all the walls and ceiling then drywall gg drywall...or some combination like that. The theater ended up being 20'x'11'x9', the drawing was a rough estimate. Are you just feeding HVAC from the house into the theater? I ended up getting an LG window unit that does AC and heat and it fit that small window PERFECTLY

Im using a LOUD window ac which hate! I tried to run heat & ac from my house but couldnt,no easy way to get the fresh air return.What is that LG unit called? thanks

LW7010HR I believe. Since i had a narrow window it was my only option. Works really well, I have a ceiling fan in there as well so that helps.

Yours is one of those 2 piece system where the noise is outside,been wanting one couldnt afford it,mine is a 150.00 window ac which is distracting during a movie.

Nope, its just a single window unit. I think I paid $350 for it 2 years ago.
