Sounds good! Your talking bout the red and white rca cables? Do I need to buy extra cables or will they come with the 5+ or stf-2? Also, are there better cables I can use instead of the red and white for more clarity?

Audio equipment generally does not come with speaker wire or cables because people have different needs (e.g. length) and want (quality).

You can get good quality cheap RCA cables from Monoprice.com.

If you want more expensive cables, go with Blue Jeans Cable over buying over priced cables at Best Buy, etc.

Right... but I just received the A5+ pair, and it *does* come with an RCA cable and speaker wire.

Oh nice. I guess eventually ill find out what ill need. Are u hooking up a sub to them?

I trial-ed a pair of A5+ with my STF-2 and they sounded great together. The variable pre-out is very handy when you have a proper audio source and no need for a reciever.

But it didn't come with the RCA cable for the sub, right?

Yep... using the Klipsch RSW-10 I recently retired from my HT when I replaced it with dual SVS SB13s. I got the A5+ to wirelessly extend my Zone 2 to another area of the house. Would be better if there was a crossover on the A5s but this area isn't for critical listening anyway The setup will do fine for background music while entertaining and such...

It comes with a basic stereo RCA cable, which can be used for the sub. There isn't a sub specific output... just a stereo pass-thru that is tied to the volume control.
The cables that came with my A5s were no where near long enough to hook up a subwoofer. You will most likely have to purchase a single RCA Cable from the above mentioned sources. In my setup, I needed a cable at least 12' long to hook up my sub.

Will you need more than 6.5 feet of cable to hook up a sub?

Wow. That's rare that a manufacturer provides all those different cables.

How did you do this?......"I got the A5+ to wirelessly extend my Zone 2 to another area of the house"

I just placed an order From Audioengine. I bought a pair of 5+, D1 24-Bit DAC and DS2 stand for the speakers. I used the 10% coupon!

Is anyone using the D1 24-Bit DAC? If so, was it worth it?

I have my Zone2 piped off (hard wired via RCA) to a receiver out in my garage, which is powering my outdoor speakers. From there, I split the Zone2 output to an Audioengine W3 transmitter which sends the signal back inside the house to a W3 receiver on the back of the A5+.

They sounded good. Used them mostly for music, but I did get to demo a few movies too. They handled anything from metal to DnB without issue once I had the sub crossed over properly. Good mids and never got muddy or too bright.

+1 for my bamboo A5s. Sounds great in my secondary system paired with the Ultra 10 subwoofer. Djphaze, do you plan on getting the STF-2 as well or will you wait until later for a sub?

Sweet! Theres one W3 transmitter on the back of your 5+ and one on your receiver?

Im going to wait a little later for my sub. Possibly a week or two. First i want to make sure i like the 5+ and get comfortable with them. For now ill be looking for more options on the sub. So far the STF-2 is my top pic for now

The receiver is hard wired, so it doesn't need wireless. I'm only using wireless for the A5+.

Hmm im a little confused. Im trying to understand how the W3 work. So where is the 5+ with the transmitter picking up the music from? Your receiver?

Sorry for the confusion! I have *2* receivers. I have the Zone2 output from my main HT receiver going to a second receiver out in the garage. I split that same connection to the W3. So, the second receiver has nothing to do with the wireless other than a shared location. As far as the W3, the connection goes like this:

HT Receiver Zone2 RCA Out-->W3 Transmitter-->W3 Receiver-->A5+ Input

I think i need a schematic lol. This is all new to me. If i get this wrong i wont bother you with this anymore. So your receiver (in your garage)has a W3 transmitter going to another receiver with a W3 transmitter connected to your 5+? *crossing fingers*

Nope. Disregard the second receiver. My HT Receiver (in my Media Room) essentially has a really loooooong RCA cable going to the W3 transmitter out in my garage.

I found this subwoofer online for sale. Polk Audio PSW111 AM1145-C. Someone is asking $100 brand new factory sealed. It goes for about $200. I was wondering is anyone thinks i should go for it? Does this match up anywhere close to the HSU STF-2?
