projector / screen config challenge

Background: pit basement, 7'10" ceiling height, purchased 25 year old house with unfinished basement. Want to convert main center section into a media room 13'8 wide x 24'

Challenge: structural bean divides room and limits projector position, distance from beam face to backwall is 12'3". Goal is to maximize back wall width, and get 100-108" wide screen. Note: Projector will have to sit in front of the beam, then lens face to back wall distance is reduced by projector dimensions, providing only ~10'8" clearance from lens face to screen... ugh!

Question: What projector / lens solution has ability to send wide angle picture to fillout the back wall, that will fit inside the 12' clearance between beam face and screen wall?

I have attached rough draft basement floor plan.

I was looking at the epson 5000, but not sure if it wide angle capability

What is your budget for projector? I entered your throw distance(lens to screen) of 10.5' and 106" diagonal screen into the "Search by Feature" at Projectorcentral.com. The 2 cheapest projectors that will work are the Panasonic AR100U and the Epson 8350. The Panny will give you an image up to 109" diagonal, and the Epson up to 107" diagonal. If you reduced your screen size a little, you would have more options, but both are highly rated, popular projectors.

Looks like you can get about a 92" wide screen/106" diagnol screen...using the Epson 5010 infront of the beam......

How much does the beam hang down? Some projectors have flexible mounting points that may help your situation with the beam....

beam height is 12.5" rough/ 13" finished. With floor plan and low ceiling height, limited on options to mount projector. Was thinking of shifting 90degrees left, which would give 13.5 ft throw length (+1ft), but would not fit the room dimensions with screen on 24' long wall. Any suggestions on screen/ projector locations with floor plan scetch would be appreciated.

Found the eliteprojector calculator, and see the tool lists the 5010e as slightly wider lens vs. the 8350. Although, suspecious as Epson website lists 8350/8700/5010 all as 2.1 zoom lens, only difference is appears 5010e has motorized lens capability.

I'm amazed at the large number of projector options, need to narrow down somehow, and currently my thinking is Epson brand is strong, lower priced replacement lamps, service network, etc. Options are lower priced 8350vs. 3D capable 5010e. I plan to post on 3D area if active 3d technology is worth the price difference between 8700UB vs. 5010e.

Thanks for the help!
