HTIB for passive 3d?

I'm looking for a HTIB...currently looking at the Samsung HT-E5500W

This is for my vizio passive 3d tv. I'm reading online and it says:

"Combine with a 3D TV and 3D active shutter glasses to view the latest Hollywood 3D titles or amplify your viewing experience by up converting 2D content to immersive 3D."

Is this for real? a HTIB that is meant for ONLY active 3D? my thought is it shouldn't matter if the ending TV is passive or active. does it?

Not sure what a htib is, but the 3D video sent to either active or passive TVs is exactly the same. The documentation you read just didn't consider that passive TVs exist.

home theater in a box

This is me: "hi, i''m interested in your HTIB system. My tv is a passive 3d tv. I read in your site that "with a 3D TV and 3D active shutter glasses to view the latest Hollywood 3D titles. 3D TV, Active glasses and content required."

The question is, since my tv is NOT active, why does your site say I need active glasses and content? content is not dependant on the active or passive. correct? so is it true that i must have active tv for your system to work? or will it work just fine with my passive tv? thanks."

Samsung's reply: "We appreciate you contacting Samsung Electronics and being a valued customer.

We understand that you want to know the 3D glasses that you can use with the TV to get the 3D option.

If you want to use the 3D option, you need to use Active shutter 3D glasses as all the 3D TV's from Samsung support Active Shutter 3D glasses. "

Bastards completely avoided the question and wants me to buy THEIR TV...no surprise i guess...WTH am i suppose to do? sell my TV on CL and buy their TV?

Well, I bought it anyways...tested yesterday with puss n boots 3D...guess what?

IT WORKED!!!!!!!!!! THOSE BASTARDS!!!!

OK so maybe they know passive TVs exist but don't want others to know. This question illustrates the greatest beauty in the current iteration of 3D home viewing. The standards work and will continue to provide quality 3D content as the display devices improve.
