I am looking at the Panasonic HCX 900 series for an outdoor video project. From what I can read the Pannys don't have a lanc port like the Canons do and I need to operate the camera from several feet away and from different angles.

Is there some kind of work-around that I can do with the infrared remote? Can I use some fiber optic cable to extend the range of that cordless remote?
Maybe someone has tackled this issue before.
Not sure where the remote receptor is on this series of cameras.

I reallylike the better video quality of the Pannys that all the reviews talk about.

BTW what is the difference between the HCX 00M and the HCX 900K? .
