Whew!!! I thought I was having an extended senior moment there. smile.gif

Of course they could be playing us. I could see a twist where Alec could wind up being Kagami and Julian the CSM ... or ...

Kiera thwarts a different Liber8 plot in each one, and while the group's plans may become clearer over time, individual episodes have the same structure of getting called to investigate a crime, finding out Liber8 is behind it, and stopping them. The show would be better if it relied more on science-fiction elements, rather than police procedurals. As it stands, being from the future only means that Kiera gets to shoot a fancy gun now and then or use her suit to pull off a stunt, so the scifi elements in Continuum feel like halfhearted additions designed to differentiate it from the slew of other crime dramas, rather than the show's backbone.
Nice analysis.

Rumor has it that while 'Continuum' will premiere S-2 on April 21st in Canada, it won't appear here on Syfy until June or July. Anybody have any confirmation of that?

EDIT --- Here is the Syfy schedule for April 21:
http://www.syfy.com/schedule/?date=2013-4-21
It doesn't appear to be there, and the next day it starts the first group all over again. Seems to be another example of a network managed by people who still think the Earth is flat and other such nonsense. This show is going to be crippled in the ratings before it even starts to air here, idiots...

Looking at the scheduled airings for Defiance I'm guessing that Continuum will use the same time slot when the 13 episodes of Defiance conclude on July 1st, which would fit right in with the rumored June/July start date noted above. It's also when the Showcase Canadian airings of the second batch of Continuum will probably have concluded as well, meaning all 13 episodes will be available for those that know how and where to get them before they even premiere on Syfy, idiots...

Or the idiots (unlike us professional forum posters that really know how to run TV networks) have a contract statement that the series must air in Canada first.

Oh no doubt, that goes without saying, what I'm saying is that the 2 parties to the contract should realize that in today's world content is not restricted by political borders anymore, that most anything is accessible from anywhere else in the world. HBO is finally making moves to embrace that fact by airing their highly successful and extremely highly downloaded show Game of Thrones in the rest of the world within a week of it's premiere in the US.

Hopefully Syfy got a cut-rate price on the show for having it delayed over 3 months.
I thought when Syfy picked up Continuum they announced the second season would come right behind the first or maybe just delayed a week or two behind Showcase. The latter would make sense and Showcase might demand it. Contract and scheduling issues effect a delay but also I wouldn't give TV execs any Einstein awards either.
Canada's Showcase surely has an exclusive window to maximize their investment. But if the American Syfy channel is not readily available up there, then why bother with the delay? Seems like it would be in both networks interest to get it all out there at once. Take the bitstreamers and other "pirates" out of the picture. If you negotiate a cut-rate deal for the show that includes a season-long delay, you're just inviting people to pirate the show and reducing your ad sales.

Well, Showcase certainly didn't try to stop Continuum from being available from the usual sources on the net after it had aired on their network last season- that's why many here haven't needed to watch it on SyFy.
If you 'must have' it the day after it airs in CA- it's not difficult in 2013.

I don't think there's much they can do about it.
Showcase was particularly lax: full episodes were available on YouTube for several weeks before being taken down. There are posts about it at the beginning of this thread. Perhaps Showcase figured the publicity was worth it, since they had little monetary incentive to get the shows removed when Continuum was exclusive to Canada.

According to a teaser that just aired on Syfy, S2 is "Coming Soon," so I guess the US has to wait until S2 ends in Canada.

You'd be surprised- some US shows are "taken down" within an hour or less of appearing on the net and are only available via offshore host servers after that.
I can't remember the exact dates, but the syfy site shows what seems to be the beginning of a marathon (S1) beginning about the same time as S2 in CA. So, maybe just a week delay?

To be fair... the new BSG didn't have lots of space battles. Go back through the forum discussion and you'll find some people complaining that they wanted more space battles. Much of BSG was drama aboard the ship, and not so much the space battles.

Ok so at least half right originally ... I did, in fact, forget that we had seen Kagame's mother in an earlier episode.

Young Alec's got some 'splainin' to do.

And totally possible the show's producer posted those episodes themselves to create buzz to help sell to other networks. It's been done before.

Yeah, that's been postulated by many fans too- If it's true- kudos to the producer for 'gettin to word out'..

Good thing that these early episodes were posted on the net. That's the reason I watched the show, and I'm not so sure I would have watched it otherwise. I do not pay attention to scyfy channel regularly.

Because of all the praise, I waited until after the season was over before I posted my thoughts...but those thoughts could be summed up in one word: meh.

As others have said, that first season was basically a police procedural that'd probably fit in on any CBS schedule, and I was bored senseless most of the time. I'll probably tune in for the first episode just to see what the real plan is (that was one of the lamest ways to do a cliffhanger by the way), but depending on the answer, I don't know if I'd be back for more.

If anything, all this show did was remind me of how great Journeyman was...

It grew on me, but it's nothing worth raving about as "special". I really like the protagonist and the flashes of future tech. The story line is meh. I'm in for season 2.

But whatever you do don't post anything negative on The Following thread. Folks who are critical of the brilliantly executed premise and weekly slo-mo eviscerations as followers pop out f nowhere just in time get taken to task.

Much the same for me. The cast was was the only real reason I stayed on as long as I did.

As for the Following, I gave up on that a few episodes in, so no worries there. tongue.gif

Because of the cancellation of Journeyman I've basically sworn-off NBC as a network! mad.gif

Excellent finale. Came close to giving up a couple episodes in, but then I realized Canadians aren't used to handguns and can't hit anything anyway so I was good. The story arc seemingly blah at times has been worth it. Easy to enjoy lead actress and other characters filling out some depth, particularly the yachtsman. Looking fwd to Season Two.

I was planning to visit Vancouver this fall and will definitely check out the broken monument at the terrorist bombing site. Please PM me if you Canadian viewers see anything about another Liber8 strike this September.

When is season 2 supposed to air in the US? Isn't it supposed to start soon in Canada?

All we know is that it's "Coming Soon." (per the slide after the finale aired on SyFy)

"Soon" has not been defined in this context.
