Continuum ... New Series on Canadian TV - Page 4

Is it me or do the episodes of "Charlie Jade" on Netflix make more sense than the ones I saw on Sci-Fi? For instance the Sci-Fi episodes seemed flash cut like a music video whereas the Netflix ones stay with the scene until completed. It's like Sci-Fi recut to make sure no one liked the show. I know it sounds conspiratorial but networks really don't like shows that knock corporations who are their cash cows. You might ask Jesse Ventura about that and also this last episode of "Newsroom" dramatized it.

I don't know about that, but seeing it on DVD, especially if you have a good upconverting player, is a vast improvement over the Sci-Fi broadcast which was fuzzy and muddy SD. Can't remember whether they cropped it to fit 4x3 screens or if it was letterboxed. You can get the DD5.1 soundtrack on one of the DVD sets as well (it's the one that contains the extra "clip show" episode round about Ep-16). There are two sets floating around out there but I believe Amazon only has one for sale. If so, e-Bay might cough up the other one.

More to your point, the Sci-Fi Network likely cut them indiscriminately to fit the time slot requirements. It was made in South Africa and probably wasn't formatted for the typical 5 or 6 act U.S. commercial telecast. The network didn't much care about the show, so they probably didn't care what they cut out either.

If they ever get it to air officialy on the US, I wonder if they edit the Canadian dollars and replace them with US dollars.. LOL

So everybody at least in the city was getting those texts about giving the 20 mil to the people I'm suprisde there weren't more people there to fight for the money.. in today's world they would have destroyed the place for a bill..

Watched episode 7 last night....
Rachel Nichols continues to impress. She was very effectively able to emote her feelings of devastation upon learning her husband had a "fling" with her friend just before they got married. Oh, and boy does she clean up nice too- wow!
Some additional neat tech devices introduced- the room spray that displays fingerprints along with their age, using cell signals as radar for imaging inside buildings.
Not surprised Liber8 was funding the union boss candidate- now he's their pawn- makes sense for them to do that.
Looks like Kera's suit is almost 100% repaired- watch out Liber8!

This show kind of reminds me of Alpha's (on Sy-Fy or whatever they call themselves this week) - not "must watch" TV- but very watchable with likable characters and an interesting plot.
Hope it gets renewed!

I do agree that Rachel Nichols continues to impress! She really does clean up nice.

Rent or buy 'Alias'. I said back then that if there were any justice in the world Rachel Nichols would be on TV every week.

Kiera as a Terminator! Awesome....

I'm really enjoying where this is going now.... A hidden "Read Me First!" file from 2069 in Kiera's CMR (implanted computer)? Guess we all know exactly who put it there.
The acting has improved- I even like Carlos now, enjoyed his little give-and-take with kellog. Of course Rachael Nichols was excellent again, we need to see more of her- if you get what I mean wink.gif
Alex is really getting into his work, but now he's on the Liber8 radar since he foiled their attempt to control Kiera. He has zero security at his lab- and he should be relatively easy to find!

This show is as good or better than stuff on the American major networks.... how do we find out if it's been renewed for more episodes?

A more relevant question to most of us is when is it going to hit Netflix?

Perhaps it would be a good time for Netflix subscribers to call/email Netflix in regards to getting Continuum.

Could not have said it better. I think we have only 2 episodes left. I do hope it's been renewed.

+1 - Would love to watch this on my 65" HD glory in the US!

It looks pretty good if you get the 720p version of the show each week.

From a quick google, it seems like the show gets around 400K viewers per episode in Canada. No idea if this is good or not, or if the channel it is on has wide distribution or not etc
post #107 of 537
Yes the 720p looks really nice.

So I have had this thought for weeks. Kira has hinted with Alec to stop looking at her.
How can she go to the bathroom? Take a shower, have sex without him watching? Her eyes record and upload everything. I wonder if she cares since the Corporations seems big brotherish in the future. She hardly seems to care or give it a 2nd thought.

This was posted: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1954347/episodes?season=1,

So a total of 10 episodes for season one. I'm saving the entire season (720p, of course) for later viewing by
some friends who have never seen it.

This show MUST be renewed!

I really enjoyed Episode 9 and hated it at once. Means only 1 more episode left!

Chilling how the events on the farm will make Liber8. Yet it's also the birthplace of all the advance guardian tech.

Man this episode was missing some time, where Kiera was changing clothes to put on the suit.. please? LOL

Thankfully the propane explosion doesn't damage the suit, I knew bullets didn't.. then the kid that shot her aimed for the stomach while Kiera had a big nice cleavege where he should be aiming..

I can understand the concern if SyFy put money into the series and after a year decided to pull out. But, the series is 100% Canadian funded (AFAIK), so all SfFy would be doing is purchasing air rights in the U.S. If they then canceled it here in the U.S., it wouldn't affect funding for it to continue in Canada.

So what's the problem? Don't they have any space in their programming schedule??? Maybe they should get rid of some of the **ap reality and "ghost" shows?
I would think they would go the route they did with LOST GIRL and wait for a second season and then run it along with the first season. Their series schedule is pretty much filled thru spring.
