Sennheiser RS 220 Problem

Thread Starter
I have a Pioneer Elite SC-55 that I just purchased. Do not know where to connect the RS-220's. I tried digital out connector and set the stream to direct but no output.

I don't care whether it is analog or digital. RS-220 will accept analog, coax, and digital in PCM format only.

Help!!

Not familiar with your model, however, you most likely have to input the source device with analog/optical/digital coax to the AVR in order to connect the analog/optical output to the RS-220 wireless station.

I have a direct tv, apple tv, ps3 all connected via HDMI to the AVR. Do you mean I also need to connect them via digital, coax, or analog as well in order to use the digital out?

I'm a little confused.

Correct .. there is no HDMI--> optical/analog down conversion.

To use analog output you must connect analog input. To use optical output you must connect optical input.

Too bad: It means I cannot use my Apple TV since the headset only accepts PCM in and there is no configuration for sending pcm out through its digital connector.

Do you know if the PS3 can be configured to output pcm digital??

thanks

When the Apple TV outputs a stereo signal it's PCM 2.0 which is also the case for the PS3 as well when output over optical.

I have my Sennheiser RS220 headphones connected to the headphone output of the Pioneer SC-55 and it works fine, I don't understand why you might be having problems?cool.gif

^^
The headphone jack will output any audio regardless of how the source is connected, however, the limitation is you have to keep plugging and unplugging the headphone transmitter. While if you also connect the sources you want to listen to via the RS220 with analog cables, you can then connect the RS220 transmitter to either an analog out jack or Zone 2 pre-out and never have to remove it. smile.gif
