Even though the SM chassis comes with parts, but arent they mediocre? Most swapped the PSU, motherboards.. fans.. etc. Piling up the chassis with mediocre PCB units and blow drier fans makes no sense.
saving more than $100... alot
on 4U server case
you can compare SM with Norco.
if you need robust server case with all included motherboard with ram adn cards(SATA), the deal is pretty good
I just replace with 120mm norco fan-plate for $10, 3 x120mm fan( mostly free, since have it in my closet, each was $5 when I bought), 2X80mm fan ($7 each) + PSU ( move from my workstation)
total wasted time of me was 3 hours:P...
on Norco, you need to replace 120mm fan plate too(could be not on newer model), 120mm and 80mm fans + PSU
you will know when you insert HD tray on SM and Norco... totally different.
the SM Case is pretty solid and heavier than norco.
if you are talking AIC server.. this is a different story than SM....
