Have been watching the Mad Men Seasons on blu ray with no problems for seasons 1-4. Just got to the 5th season and I have noticed during somewhat darker scenes what I can describe as a "heartbeat" flicker of light within the picture. I say heartbeat because its pretty much every second. It is very subtle but I noticed it with this season only. I looked it up and apparently season 5 is shot digitally 1080p/24. I have not tried to run my panasonic blu ray player directly to the TV yet. I did put back in a season 4 disc and the problem was gone. My guess is that it is my first experience with the 24fps bug. It drives my insane now that I notice it during each episode.

You can verify by using the 2nd HDMI out.

It works fine from the sub out now that I checked so it has something to do with the Main...

That doesn't surprise me. I think the Main output hurts more than it helps. Well at least in the case of HD video. I don't know whether or not it comes into its own with sub-par video sources, but anything like blu-ray and HD gaming is going to be better on the Sub output.

I got this receiver all set up and it sounds fantastic. Everything is working great with the except that the receiver will not turn on via remote. I can turn it off with the remote but not on. Went online and downloaded the latest firmware. The receiver took about 40 mins or so to update. Still didn't fix the problem. Has anyone had any luck with this? Am I just missing something here?

did you change the REFERENCE Offset for Dynamic EQ?

Not sure what that would have to do with turning the receiver on with the remote. But I did change it before the firmware update. After the update I haven't run audyssey yet since the problem still exists (didn't want to do that all over again just to lose it with another update). So as if right now no offsets set and still can't turn the receiver on with the remote.

Edit: I unplugged the receiver for 30 mins to reset and I can now turn it on via the remote.

In regards to the 12v triggers, one article says "12 volt triggers are included for controlling Zones 2 and 3". Can these 12v triggers be reconfigured for zone1/main speakers? The reason I ask, is I have sub amps that need to be kicked on/off by triggers and if they only work on zone 2 and 3, then how could I get my amps to kick on/off?

They must have just changed the newegg price cause I was watching all day today. If you buy it at one call they have 2yr warranty and the newegg is only 1yr. I wonder why.

Anyone know if the 818 can reasonably drive 4 Ohm speakers. I don't expect the greatest but will it do the job until I can get an amp. The sensitivity of the speakers is 88db. Wondering if I need to get an amp immediately or if I can use the 818 by itself for a while without messing up the speakers or getting terrible performance.

I ordered 2 from BH. I didn't get the extended warranty. I have 30 days to get one and they offer up to 3 year where Amazon only 2 year. Guess my 2 B&K Reference 50 S2's will be going up for sale on Ebay.
