New model sooner than expected? Maybe...

I am streaming wav music from my media server using bubbleupnp on android. The problem is that every time a new song starts, the AV volume returns to minus infinity (minimum sound level). Does anyone know what might be happening? I don't know if its an app issue or an AV issue. BTW, I don't have any problems streaming using the Onkyo Remote app - but I like the playlist feature of the Bubbleupnp app - well I would if I could hear anything, lol. Many thanks for advice.

You bought a product in December which is replaced annually and you are having a cry?

I would think if it was already being replaced they would have shown off the new model at CES.

perhaps I have been in the wrong thread all along. Bought my first big screen and audio setup in august. Recently bought a 7.1 Definitve Technology system and a HSU VTF-15H sub. My first receiver was an Onkyo 609. After I joined these forums I discovered and learned a bit about odyssey. On Monday I bought a Marantz SR5007 for audyssey multi eq xt. It dials in the sub nice compared to 2eq...But I have discovered it has less options than than my 609 did. I have a font height 7.1 setup and it only has DD PLZII for heights. I was thinking of taking it back and upgrading to a Denon 3313 but perhaps I should have been after the 818 all along.

And announced the 626, 727, & 828.

So say they come out with an 828, what new features would you want that would make you regret getting your 818? For me the 818 had everything I was wanting in a receiver. I guess maybe a better app and more integration with things like smartphones and tablets. But that's software not hardware.

...and that will be enough to get the masses to upgrade.(especially if the firmware upgrades stop)
Need to keep the OEM profit margins up.rolleyes.gif

Good news, We should start seeing these for $500 soon.

I would like a second zone that can do independent HDMI from the first. Some of the Denons can do that. Also a sharper cleaner UI would be good.

I think the 818 already has a pretty amazing feature set for the price, so it's hard to imagine they would come up with any upgrades that would make me regret my 818 purchase. Some things I'd like to see:

Gapless Audio over network
Improved network media browser (both on display and app)
Digital sources in zone 2/3
Variable zone 2/3 preamp outs
USB 2.0 or better on rear panel vice USB 1.1 (to power small hard drives)

^^^
Use only one 4K capable video chip, e.g. QDEO.

Give it the ability to stream video via DLNA.

Perhaps you mean to drop the feature down to a lower model as the 3010 and 5010 already have this feature?

did the firmware update fix the 24fps bug?
It did.

Are you just saying? Or did they announce a x28 series ? I looked it up and found nothing. If you know something we don't know please include a link.
He's saying if there was an 828 coming out soon, it would have been announced a long with the other new Onkyo AVs.
It's still available on Amazon and Onkyo's own site!
still available at onecall.com for a GOOD price (not the price shown on the site)
Do you have to call and talk to a rep to get the discounted price?
Google tx-nr818. It shows j and r has it for 749. Their site shows 1199. Call them and they should match it. They did for me.

Called J R and I did in fact get it for the $749. Thanks AVS and thanks Maniac2K and swatkins for the tip. I love this place and this unit will go perfectly with my newly acquired Panasonic 65VT50. smile.gif
