Yeah, it's possible that setting Video Processing to Skip really does turn off all video processing when the OSD is also turned off. And turning the OSD on introduces just enough processing to inject the OSD overlay. I guess we can't really test that.
I'm starting to think the 808 was a better fit for my needs. I used the Universal Port for an iPod dock, and that seems to have been removed from the 818. That would be fine if the USB port on the rear could be used for an iPod, but it looks like iPods are only supported on the front USB port for some reason. I also don't like the way HDMI-CEC is forcing my TV's volume OSD to display every time I adjust the volume on the receiver. These things coupled with the slower startup time are making me think that I may just try to get my 808 fixed or maybe try an 809.
