By the way firmware has been updated and the issue happens on hdmi and optical audio connection.

That's right. There is only a ".1" really. The .1 stands for the LFE channel and, regardless of how many subs you have, you still only have one LFE channel. So the display is correct when it says 7.1. If you run multiple subs, you are simply sending the .1 information to more than 1 sub (usually to create less seat to seat variance in the bass).
That is true, but even on units that have two genuine sub outlets such as my 5509 prepro, the display still says 7.1 regardless of whether you are using one sub or two. As I say, this is the correct descriptor for it. The ".1: doesn't stand for "1 sub" - it stands for "LFE channel".
