You need to make sure that your Bluray player is set to 'Bitstream' the output. Once you have done that, your 818 will show the actual codec in use. Bear in mind that many Bluray discs also have a Dolby 5.1 soundtrack as well as the lossless 'HD' track. Sometimes the disc defaults to the Dolby 5.1 track, so make sure to go into the disc menus and choose the HD track.
True enough. But the 818 has been the cheapest route into XT32 for some time now, even at the regular discounted price and it hasn't had any competition so far. At $649 anyone, IMO, who is considering upgrading to XT32 would be unwise to wait, in the hope that the price comes down even more. If I didn't have XT32, I would already have bought today!
