About the 3D would this scenario work (Sorry my TV is still in the mail so I cannot test this yet):

1. Download SBS MP4 Video
2. Play it on my laptop with 3D activated (so that's it's appearing to be blurry on the screen)
3. HDMI out to the Vizio
4. Turn on 3D on the Vizio
5. Put 3D glasses on and viola?


Lastly, can someone confirm that even with firmware updates, Vizio NEVER added an Internet browser to this TV, right? Thanks again for all the help!

No Internet browser my man they suck on TV's anyway lol.

This is how you will watch 3D via your PC

1: download or SBS file

2: play the SBS file

3: now here is where is gets complicated, if you are using a program such as Plex and you name your file correctly and have a 3D capable card it will auto switch to 3D mode. However if you do not have a 3D card or just want to use your file within a video player you will use your remote on your Vizio and select the 3D button and choose the SBS mode and then you will get your 3D.

4:put glasses in and enjoy

No I don't think it is. I watched some of the BCS championship game last year in 3d, wasn't that impressed. First the 2d cameras get the best angles, they were literally in the shot for the coin toss when watching in 3d. Second, football in 3d over FIOS wasn't that good looking. Nothing like watching bluray, they need to up the bitrate of their broadcasts.

Same thing happened again today. Has this happened to anyone? I just looked and 1/28 would have been my 90 day point from purchase. I am really not looking forward to service on a 3 month old tv.... I am already ready to shoot my brains out over 4 repair visits trying to fix my dishwasher!

has anyone noticed that their blacks are crushed to hell and back??? I calibrated my display using the Spears and Munsil disc and have these settings, but unless I punch my brightness to 60 the blacks are ENORMOUSLY crushed (but when I pump up the brightness I have to deal with washed out colors)

I have turned on my kd .....only to notice that my name inputs for all my hdmi ports (all I use) are back to factory lables ...i.e input 1.... and so on. When they were all manually labeled by me....laptop......uverse.....desktop. Uverse being my home theater.

Strange? My firmware is still 3.12.1.....but firmware updates should never erase those settings. All my calibration/adjustments are still present. ......weird! !

I still haven gotten the new firmware :-(

if you notice Otto has pretty much only come into this thread (multiple times over 21 pages) just to crap on vizio without saying anything constructive. hell he said he owned ONE vizio once and couldn't wait to get rid of it. he's the definition of thread crapper

Please be kind if this was discussed earlier in this thread but does anyone know the difference between the 0KD and 0KDE? I can't find any info on the 0KDE other than Vizio's Site.

Kde has no local dimming. Hit or miss on the blue tooth. Its a blue tooth tv but they put the flip over qwerty remote in the majority. None of the stats are accurate on contrast and refresh rate. But the kd out performs the KDE hands down. Personal viewing knowing someone with kde.

I had the KD for a month back in August but returned it due to backlight-bleed and strange effect with local dimming on dark movies, (hard to describe), other than that the TV was very nice, great PQ, great motion resolution, and nice 3-D. What's better on the KD vs. KDE, other than the obvious (Local Dimming and Refresh Rate)?

The KD has 10 bit color

what effect did you have with local dimming that was irritating?

eww that looks nasty. my only reason for asking was that I have an issue with it too. kind of like an auto iris on a projector I can visibly see it shift dark levels when the blacks change ... kind of getting lighter and darker at will it looks like. It DOES tame the blooming whites though.

Well obviously you returned your kd and contemplating the kde. You've read the thread and hyped up stats on kd. If this is your price range then its a crap shoot on perfection. If local dimming was a issue then the kde is fine for you, mine doesn't flicker as some do and I've managed to control my blooming. They kde motion is not as good all around with all settings turned off which is how most are adjusted.

I did not have that problem. My issue with the Smart Dimming only happened in darker movies, (Dark Scenes). Again, it's hard to describe but it was like there were movements of the backlighting that would go all over the screen depending what the content was on the movie. It was only noticeable with the lights out. I should've took a video of the issue. I was in the market for this set again because I know how great the PQ is and our current tv (Samsung D630) is having motion resolution issues (juddering/stutters) but my Wife received an unexpected but deserving bonus with her job yesterday and well, not to brag or boast but we just picked up the Sony Bravia XBR HX950 last night. So, hopefully I can end my tv search for good, at least for 5 yrs or so.

Haven't checked lately been working too much. Ill post back soon as I can look.. I just haven't looked - my wife hates me says I'm always in the back. I tell her that's where the plasma is.. Lol

Hidden features like POP, PIP, Zoom, etc. are now unavailable since the recent firmware update. When trying to access them, a press of a remote button results in a "No Function" message on screen. Since it gives this message only for the missing "hidden features", it appears that part of the "update" was to intentionally disable them. The only working hidden feature that remains is picture "Freeze".

I would go with the Vizio M3D550KD over the LG 55LM7600. The LG performs good but the Vizio has better colors and blacks. However the LG's bezel looks better, if that's a big thing to you I would go with the LG.

really? that surprises me, I would have thought that the LG7600 would have outperformed the vizio just on the fact that it doesn't have that insanely annoying auto dimming feature (drives me batty on mine). and the fact that the 7600 is a higher grade panel than the M3D550KD

i'm seriously thinking of taking my m3d550kd back to costco because of the NASTY flashlighting and the flickering caused by the auto dimmer and replacing it with the LG 55LM4600

interesting, especially surprised at the RGB balance. but ah well. might try to pick up the 4600 at costco and do a comparison. I had to turn off the auto dimming feature on my M3D550KD just because it was so visually distracting so I can't have the benefits it adds to the black levels on my set anyways

Why didn't you turn off auto dimming? Are you talking about t the ambient light sensor or local dimming?

smart dimming, not the ambient light sensor. with smart dimming turned on it definitely tames the blooming whites and deepens the blacks but I just like an auto iris on a projector I can see the led's literally lighten and darken the image depending on the scene and it drives me BONKERS (plus the nasty flashlighting is annoying as hell.
