Subtitle problems?

I seem to be having abit of a problem with some subtitles i downloaded for Lone Wolf and Sword of Vengence and Baby Cart at the River Styx. The subs are picked up by direct subs on my HTPC but when playing back are only present sporadically and when i skip forward, the playback also seems to be more flashing then constant. Does anyone have any ideas on what it may be? Im using LAV filters for playback

What are you using to play the videos? Windows Media Center? Media Player Classic? VLC?

Use MKVmerge to mux the srt file into the mkv and set it as default.

Im playing back through media centre and have set the srt as default within the mkv, the subtitles are present but not being played back correctly.

How do you know that the subtitles are present in the mkv? Are you using mediainfo?

I'm not sure if LAV Video is enabled in WMC.

I use MPC-HC launced from MB with LAV and MadVR and don't have problems with subtitles being played if I make sure the mkv has the forced subtitles set as default. I have MPC-HC set to only playback forced subs.

BTW, from where did you d/l the subtiles? I'm thinking subscene.com?

Theyre present in directvob and i can see them some times, and im not sure where i got the subs to be honest, but it probably will be sub scene

Try using VLC or Media Player Classic. Do you still have the same issue?

Can VLC be set as an external player from MB?

Can it decode HD Audio nativelly or accept 3rd party filters and codecs such as LAV to perform this task?

Iv just checked and the subs work 100% fine in vlc, i dont really want to start using vlc instead of lav though, as up to now it has worked perfectly

I don't use WMC for playback, I use MPC-HC with LAV and MadVR. I cannot help with this any further, but I suggest giving this option a whirl.
