HDMI switcher recommendation?

My 3-way HDMI switcher stopped working & I need a new one. I looked at monoprice, amazon, etc, but reviews & comments seem to be all over the place.

I don't need auto-sensing & wonder if that would work against me. What happens if your HTPC is recording something at the same time you are watching your satellite DVR? Two devices are then active. Which one does the HDMI select?

My current switcher was a $80 unit that I got on closeout for $15. Any suggestions for something in the $15 - $30 range?

If you only have 3 devices to switch between, check this HDMI 3x1 switch:

it can switch automatically if only one device is on, but if you have more than one device on, you select which one you want to display.

I've used a $10 3x1 switch from amazon for a few years that has worked flawlessly (it looks identical to the one linked above). It auto switches to the last thing you turn on. If you switch away from that device, it won't automatically try to go back. So the auto-switching hasn't been a problem for me at all.

However I bought a 5x1 from the same vendor that is complete garbage. So cheap switches are indeed a crap-shoot, which explains why the reviews are all over the place.
