I'd read the first page or two, and then start working my way from newest to oldest, as a lot changed over the course of the run, but I don't know how current the earliest posts have been kept. They'll still have important info, though. Then the newest posts should help point you to the most-current (still valid) information.

Thanks, this set me on the path and I enjoyed Scuba's disc today!

I'm definitely looking forward to seeing/hearing Jindrak's ultimate disc when it gets completed.

eek.gif Well, you could re-encode the video on the clips to make them smaller.

I know I'll have people chasing me with pitchforks and torches for saying this, but the video on most blu-ray discs are encoded at unnecessarily high bitrates. If done correctly you can easily shave bits with no visible loss in quality. Taking it a step further you can actually improve the visual quality by using motion compensated noise reduction before recompressing to reduce grain and artifacts. Of course it is more work and not a trivial process.

This is a definite d/l for me, I love the demo discs Scuba and Leo made. Can I suggest a scene also (even though I havent seen it yet) The shuttle launch from the IMAX Hubble bluray. People on the forum have said it is killer.

Ladies and Gentleman, after such a long time, through countless battles, it is finally here. I've finally completed Volume 1 of the Ultimate Bass Demo Disc.. Now, the menu is not great shakes to look at, the only thing available to me to use was multiAVCHD, but I'm happy with how it turned out. There were many errors the program gave me that I had to systematically hunt down and fix, including re-ripping certain scenes. But, it is now here, and I am very happy with what I've made.

The only feasible way to download this monster, like the other demo discs here, is by torrent. I'll try and seed it as constantly as I can so that other's can get it downloaded and seeded.
The only thing you will probably notice with the demo disc is that for the LotR - Gandalf vs. Balrog scene, I edited together the first part of the scene from Fellowship of the Ring so that you get the whole beginning of the Balrog scene, and merged it with the continuation scene from The Two Towers. There's a slight audio "change" sound that you will be able to hear, but that's just the scene changing from the Fellowship to the Two Towers version. I couldn't make the scene transition any smoother, because none of the video editing programs out there (Premiere, Vegas, etc) can edit and output HD audio. But, I don't think it detracts from the scene to much.


I have also already started work on Volume 2 of the Ultimate Bass Demo Disc, now that I've made this one and know what to look out for, it just go by much more smoothly. More info on Volume 2 will be put out shortly.

Download some Torrent software (I used uTorrent, google it, it is free like many others).

Download the .torrent file using the link a couple of posts before yours.

Wait for it to download (it will speed up as more people get it downloaded and share).

Burning it will be a little more complex and I will have to see the file structure in the .Torrent to know how to guide you, and the download link is blocked at work. Maybe someone else can chime in.

Jindrak, may be you can tell us if the file is a compress file or directly from the BDMV folder structure?

The file is not compressed. Once downloaded, you will have the BDMV folder, ready to burn. Just use any software you want. A good free one is Imgburn (http://www.imgburn.com/). Here's a picture of the folder you are downloading and whats inside:



You can ignore everything except the BDMV folder, as those are just extra's left over from the creation of the disc. And yes, this does have the Open Range shootout scene. (Over 10 minutes of it too, I might add)

If everyone could bear with me, I've got some good news. I just rented a seedbox (1 GBps) so that everyone can download this thing MUCH faster. I'm going to stop my seeding for right now so that the seedbox can get setup. Everyone should be able to instantly max out their connection speed with this smile.gif

If you know about seed boxes then I'm sure you can stumble upon Scenarist for your next disc.

Yes, I removed the link. A new torrent file will have to be created once I finish transferring the files via FTP to the seedbox. Should be about another day and a half. But, all will be well and ya'll be able to download much faster than my puny 200 - 350 KB upload speeds as before smile.gif

Now all of that downoad will appear on my March data transfer total mad.gif I had planned on splitting the download half and half on February and March biggrin.gif

I know it's way too late for that but I was wondering if it woud be feasible to make a demo with heavily degraded video quality but the same soundtrack. This would either enable a much smaller image, or to pack a much larger quantity of scenes. After all, the goal is mainly to experiment the audio.

I thought about a seedbox too, but it came down to this. It was always going to take the same amount of time to do an initial upload or to transfer to the seedbox. I bet you'll find that this doesn't get the movie out there any quicker this week but those that come onto the torrent a month from now will get it somewhat faster. Just knowledge for your next disc so that you're not having to pump money into the distribution.
