I got it downloaded but waiting on my Blue-Ray burner and disks to arrive!

And then this would get shut down pretty quick for legal reasons... eek.gif

Which means it's not on Leo's wonderful box cover, either. :(

I think the super 8 crash is one of the scenes he said that was corrupted/buggered up.

I see! Well it's playing fine on XBMC, haven't tried burning the blu-ray.
By the way if anyone needs it, I can provide a mapping between the scene titles and the .m2ts files in the STREAM folder for both volume 1 and volume 2.

I would love to find out how to play an ISO file with XBMC frodo 12.2

I am still very new at XBMC and trying to figure it out. Any help would be nice

I apologize for the incomplete information!

PPF-O-MATIC is only good if you already have a patch to apply, it does not generate one for you.

Here's a tool that does the job:

xdelta
xdeltagui

Run the GUI, click Settings>Paths, and select xdelta file you downloaded (in my case I chose 'xdelta3-3.0.7.x86-64.exe').

Here's how you create a patch (diff) file:

File 1 is the original ISO we already downloaded
File 2 is the new ISO you created after fixing issues
Patch is any filename you choose
Click MAKE to create the patch file.

Then, you can either upload the patch file to the forum, or any file hosting website, or create another torrent.

Here's how we can apply the patch (diff) file to the existing ISO file we already downloaded:

Original File: We select the ISO we already downloaded
Patch: We select the patch/diff file you uploaded using above procedure
New File: We select a filename to write the modified ISO to
We click APPLY.

I've only tested on a ~100MB file, this should work on huge ISO files as well, and I would think the x64 version is more capable than the 32bit one.

The patch file created was only 772 bytes in size! Much better than re-uploading the whole 100MB corrected MP4... smile.gif

Feel free to ask questions.

I think you just have to select it and hit play smile.gif You'll get a dialog asking if you want to browse the folder substructure or launch the menu. With blu-rays though, menu support is spotty with XBMC. And I think you have to use the keyboard to navigate the menus (the mouse won't do it).

I find it easier to browse the BDMV/STREAM folder and play the individual .m2ts files. So I just mounted the ISO and copied the folder structure.

There's a way doing this with an external player (TMT in this example).

Follow instructions here and http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=116724&pid=1324236#pid1324236

Easiest solution, if you don't care for previews and extras, is to just remux the movie into an MKV, then playback is easy smile.gif
post #675 of 852
I agree with shpitz. Makemkv is super easy and you just mount the whole ISO and then "re-rip" it into a .MKV and are done. You will need to create whatever metadata and images you want, or let whatever tools you have do screen grabs, but that is easier than worrying about external players and such if you aren't going to use them for anything else.

Having problems burning the .iso file.
First disk said something about the file was burning to fast.
Second one it said it had an error and would not verify disk.

Is there a certain program everybody is using?
I'm just clicking on the file. It picks the drive where the burner is at. And then executes, but with errors.

Last time I burned a disc was 10 years ago.

Optical media in my eyes is a total fail: too many coasters, lifespan too short, unreliable, time-consuming, expensive.

a 4TB hdd can hold about 80x 50GB discs, sells for ~$150. A blank 50GB BD-R costs ~$4, that's over twice the cost of the HDD. To me, magnetic storage beats any optical media in terms of accessibility, availability, and performance.

The only thing is, with large HDD comes a massive loss when there's failure, but today with RAID, you can even minimize/eliminate the failure aspect of magnetic media.

You can save 10-20% by remuxing into MKV, you don't need to get off the couch to change discs, no time wasted looking for something, waiting for it to load, etc...

I like the gigantic HD method also, but for some reason I also like having the physical media. Sometimes I just couldnt be arsed to fire up the HTPC, wait for windows to boot and do all its shenanigans, I like to pop a disc in and play it. I have a 4-bay QNAP NAS box, I slapped four 2T drives in it with raid 5. I end up with just over 5.5T after parity. I like having full 1:1 rip of my blurays on it, but Im still not that good at ripping them, too many settings to read up on, and they seem to have the sound out of sync with the video a lot when I rip and its annoying as hell.

Ended up having to put it on my SSD and use imgburn. Worked great, didn't expect it to take 1.5 hours or so. But glad I got it. Disk works great!

Fiancé' said "what's the point of this disk"
I said "to show off"

Well, install an SSD as your boot drive and Windows will load up in 10 seconds smile.gif

Or put the PC to sleep instead of shutting down.

... or just leave it on!

Not to boast or anything, but I think I found the ideal setup for my use case. I moved my office into the room just under the living room. My desktop computer is only a few feet away (vertically) from my HT setup. So I drilled a hole and directly used an HDMI cable. Thus my receiver + TV is simply a second monitor. I use a cheap IR remote, and a bluetooth keyboard and mouse to navigate my computer. The computer is also the family media server so it's always on. It's got an SSD to boot, so that launching, say, XBMC, is just instantaneous.

The pleasure of having the capabilities of a speedy, complete computer at your fingertips in your HT, without the noise, is astounding. Accessing the various demo disks (including Jindrak's) takes second, and is in fact limited by how fast I can punch the remote to launch XBMC and navigate to my demo folder.

I have SSD's on my main gaming PC, and my laptop, but I just havent wanted to spend the cash to buy SSD's for all of my other PC's. I want 256 gig drives or better in all of my pcs, but they are still a bit expensive in price/gig at 180 bucks or so plus tax for a 256gig drive, thats almost 1000 bucks just for SSD main drives for my pc's, when I coulda spent that on more electronics for the rack! wink.gif

My laptop I never usually shut down, my main gaming PC I shut off every night but it has a SSD so its fine, Ive been hosting a Teampseak server on one of my spare PC's for about 10 years and it never gets shut down either, but I never turn the HTPC's on unless I want to use them. What I should do is migrate the TS server to one of the HTPC's and leave it on all the time and get rid of the one thats hosting it now. Kill 2 birds with one stone.

Did you try producing a diff file from the m2ts? would save you a TON of un-needed data to upload...
