Had a BenQ PB6200 I bought new, but the caps went bad in the PS 3 or 4 years ago and took the projector out... Due to the economy and loss of my business, I have been unable to afford a new one, but I 'really' want one... I have a small home theater doing 'nothing'.. has surround sound, the screen the ceiling mount, the cables.. everything.. just no projector...

So I'm wondering what is out there that has similar or better performance (especially in regards to brightness and visibility in various room lighting conditions) for as little as possible money... Even willing to buy used but prefer new...

I was generally very happy with the projector (except for the cost of replacement bulbs)... but would have liked to be able to handle better off axis viewing and ambient light.. loved the DLP technology...

I need a short throw projector.. Need to get to 8' diagonal (16:9) in 11' or less from the front of he projector... Would be nice to get a better resolution than my old projector..

I have no problem buying a 'for now' projector while my personal economic situation (hopefully) 'recovers'.. I can always use it for 'outside' or portable use later when I get a good projector...

I'm thinking that the price to quality ratio 'has' to have gotten better since I bought the BenQ... a lot better even...

Can I get into something that will do the trick 'for now' in the 300-400 range? If not, how much more do I have to spend?... I'm tired of waiting, and willing to skimp on eating or whatever for a month or two to get another projector..

What do you guys recommend?...

thanks,
Mark
