Marantz AV7701 Prepro Official Owner's thread - Page 12

Correct. You likely need a more capable router if the 7701 is not wired directly to the router. There should be no issues with the Touch. Refer to p. 39 in your Owner's manual for instructions.

Does AirPlay on the Marantz only pass audio? If it passes video I need clued-in as I'm missing something. smile.gif

Airplay on ANY AVR only passes audio as Apple has not licensed any AVR mfrs to pass video. You'll need to add an AppleTV if you want to pass video.

Thanks, thought that might have been the case. Cheers.

Anyone using an outboard dac with 7701? I tried the Schiit Gungnir without success. I'm not into headphones. BD's, Apple TV, internet radio, CD's via BD player. I was looking for greater sound stage and diffinition. I achieved it with movies but not music or TV no matter the source I heard no discernable difference in SQ.
If you have experience with this please advise how you connected, dac of choice and general experience.
Equipment: AV 7701, MM 7055 amp, Emo XPA-100 monoblocks for mains and center, B&W 683, HTM61, B&W 684. Apple TV, Sharp BD, Cable box.
Originally had the dac with xlr into prepro - no joy. Jason at Schiit suggested I connect to the amp, at this point I achieved the aforementioned in SQ playback.
Final setup was: Gungnir via xlr into amp MM7055, Apple TV via optical, RCA into BD and cable box.

Will it sound the same, or will you get any issues?

Thanks for all answers

Most Prepros are fine with a stepdown although I haven't tried the 7701.

Although most banana plugs are the same size, some are slightly larger so you may have to push a little harder. smile.gif

is there some factory thing I need to pull out first ? because they seem a little lose ?

If you have the "locking" type banana plugs (as noted in the 2nd set of pictures in the post below), you'll need to adjust the silver collar on the plug to expand the width of the banana.

Came across a problem yesterday after I turned on my receiver/Television. When I am in CBL/SAT mode with the receiver on, I get sound through my speakers just fine. When I tried using my Xbox though I get only video and no audio. I switched ports on the back and I still only get video and no audio. When I turned off the receiver to use the "Last use" setting I get video and audio (through my Television speakers) just fine.

What setting magically changed that stopped audio coming from my xbox/receiver?
How is the Xbox connected? Ensure the INPUT MODE setting for the Xbox source name is set to "Auto".

What does it mean when it says "M1" on my receiver in the middle right of my display. I did get the sound to work again, someone must have accidentally pressed the ZONE button on my remote (not using zones) and changed it so it would not recognize the volume input on the remote. DOH!

As noted on p. 153 in your Owner's manual ... Monitor 1 output.

Would anyone know the model number for the rack mount kit for the AV7701? I've tried looking in the manual and on the Marantz website but haven't been able to find it. The website identifies many different rack mount kits, but not a single one of them is identified as being compatible with the AV7701. I'm sure I'm missing something obvious so any assistance would be most appreciated.

Let me know if you find any information on the kit. The closest thing I could find was this: http://www.mcmelectronics.com/product/555-13216&utm_source=ExactTarget&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=ConfirmEmail but it would take some modification to the chassis. I wonder if the RMK8003AV would work? RMK8003AV_Installation_Instructions.pdf 88k .pdf file
