The other British brand - KEF. Also Revel.
Here is my opinion. If you are going to spend a lot of money, get speakers that not only sound great to you, but measure great on-axis and off-axis. Get the whole enchilada. Get everything, instead of settling for a speaker that just sound good to you but measure pathetic on-axis & off-axis.
Here is a fact for you. The cheap $400 Infinity P362 measures better on-axis and off-axis (frequency response) than the B&W 802D & 800 Diamond!
Another fact: you cannot fix a speaker with poor off-axis response with any EQ/DSP in the world.
Here is another fact: the older 802D measures almost identical to the new 800 Diamond on Stereophile! So just what exactly did they improve if the old measures almost exactly like the new?
Something is very fishy.
There are a lot of speakers out there that sound great and measure great. Don't settle.
