Mirage Omni S8 at $140 vs HSU STF-1?

Hi,

Can the Mirage Omni S8 compare favorably with the HSU STF-1?

It's a heck of a bargain today at $139. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...tag=slicinc-20

Will be used in my bedroom, primarily for music in the morning while getting ready for work, and the occasional TV/Movie. It is not for critical listening or my main area for watching movies, and will almost never be LOUD. Room is about 2000 cu ft.

I am replacing a Denon HTiB speaker set sub which is too loose for my taste.

I know the Mirage is an Omni, and not a Prestige... how will it fair for music? I don't need it to go super low, just want it to be tight, with some decent 30-60Hz output. I tend to like Energy Speakers.

I've considered the following subs for the replacement.
  • Energy S10.3 (probably too big for WAF, but a good price when on sale), and
  • the STF-1, which is a little pricey for what I'd like to spend for that room.
  • BIC something or other, maybe F12 (big)
  • Pinnacle DIgital Sub 100 (don't know too much about this yet)

Can the Mirage satisfy? Seems like such a good price.

Thanks,

Dan

I have an Energy S8.3 in a smaller room, about 1300 cubic ft. Does a great job.

the S8 would be perfect for your use. It's pretty tight and clean and I wouldn't hesitate to use it for music

I had one for a long time and it did pretty well in a large room (it never sounded very strained even when I pushed it hard)
