Hey guys - I wasn't sure where to put this so I put in this forum.
I have a home theater, built-in cabinet in my Media room that's about 5' tall (top chamber, at least), ~29" deep and consists of about 5 shelves. The shelves are around 25" deep, leaving about 3-4" of space BEHIND the shelves to run cable, heat to rise, etc.
I also have an A/C return vent at the top of the cabinet (inside) for the purpose of exhausting (and sucking) heat out of the cabinet. I will have 2 amps, a pre-pro, HTPC, dvd player and xbox360 in this cabinet. Cabinet has two front doors (one left and right; have to open both to gain full access) that run the span of the height, inset with glass.
My question is - I'm still concerned about heat build up with the doors closed. I was wondering if it would be a good/bad idea to place a fan at the top of the cabinent (where the A/C return vent is) to further pull heat up and out of the cabinet.
Is this a bad idea? My thought was when the A/C is running, it'll be constantly pulling; but when it's off, there won't be any vaccuum unless I add a fan...
