How much flawed screen uniformity is acceptable?

Had a LG 50PA5500, the display had pretty flawless uniformity. Ended up returning that because the black levels were poor and I disliked the display panel turning OFF during full black scene transitions (and then turning back on once a new scene began). I could mess with the setting to fix the panel blanking, however I couldn't get the black levels to my liking.

Picked up a Panasonic 50PU54. This set has great blacks, no problems with full dark scenes. Ran a couple hours of slides and some full screen video content without logos. Before turning the TV off, I ran the Panasonic "scrolling bar" just in case I had some IR going on. Turns out I have a slightly off-color greenish blob in the middle of the TV, a few inches from the bottom. I didn't notice while watching content, but you can see it pretty clear as the white bar passes over the area. Also it seems like the longer the area is white, the greener is gets (when the bar first get to the blob, it is white, then it turns greenish as the bar passes by). It isn't IR or anything, because I never displayed static content and ti hasn't changed in 4 hours of additional viewing. Adjusting the TV settings changes the blob color a bit. I don't have a XBox 360 hooked up right now, but I suspect I might be able to see the blog easily during the loading and menu screens.

Is this type of stuff normal and considered fine as long as it doesn't show in normal viewing? While I can only see this on the scrolling bar right now, I would hate to be sitting on a TV with a problematic panel and have something like this show up in normal viewing.

That really sucks! Last years models had bad reported Green and Pink Blobs!
Looks like it could have carried over to the 2012 models . That's just great! You probably can do a search to read up more on the subject. You could return it but might be a crap shoot.

Yes last year's sets had the green blob issue. I had the 42ST30 for a total of 3 weeks before returning it due to a nice green blob in the middle of the screen. It was so obvious, and more so with the contrast dialed up.

My UT50 is so much better. I believe a little hint of DSE is normal for most plasmas but this day and age I wouldn't accept poor uniformity.

Well I gotta say that searching for for green blobs brought up a lot more results than I was expecting
