Pondering media-player-on-the-go via Acer netbook

I have an Acer Aspire One netbook PC (Model no. = AO722-0473). I just replaced its HDD with a SSD, and loaded it with a fresh Win7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1 installation... now the system is as clean as a whistle, with zero bloatware

Next, I want to load a software media player so that I can take HD content on the go (i.e. when traveling, etc.).

Been thinking of either installing VLC Videolan, or MPC-HC for the task. I have much more experience with VLC, and I have always liked that it plays just about anything. Can the same be said for MPC-HC? Also, can the two players co-exist on the same system, if I should decide to install both of them?

Yes, I think you're right. VLC is a decent general purpose player for non-critical viewing, which is my goal. It just works, and plays just about anything. MPC-HC seems much more configurable for those who want to tweak their way to A/V perfection, but again, my goal is "no-fuss-no-muss" (i.e. non-critical viewing). The Acer netbook's monitor is only 11.4" with 1366x768 native panel resolution, anyway
