New Build

Thread Starter
CPU: Intel G630 - $69 local ($66 online)
SSD: 90gb Kingston HyperX- $70
CASE: nMEIDA 5000b - $50
MOBO: UNDECIDED - looking for a good price
MEM: G.SKILL 2x2GB - $25

This HTPC will be running XBMC and used as a front end only so not planning to use it for any storage. Planning on using the old HTPC for all recordings and such and streaming through my network. I would like to have 3d capability but having HDMI and playing HD is all I really need. My TV does 3d but I rarely ever use it.

Any advice or know where I can get a lower price on something?

You can get an ECS LGA1155 H61 for $15 right now.

At that price for a motherboard- you can try it and upgrade anytime with no bad feelings.

It's a steal!

You might want to go 8GB since it's only $10 more.

You can save another $10 on the CPU if you search around to make up for it.

I would not get the Kingston SSD. You can get a Muskin Chronos for same price that is better.

But- Just my opinion and your build looks fine.

I like Asrock Motherboards for value BTW...

You can find the G530 on-line for $39. It'll do what you want just as well as the G630 but for $30 less.

http://www.superbiiz.com/detail.php?name=G530BOX
$41.99 - $5 coupon code "ZAMBONI" = $36.99 + shipping (to my zipcode $2.01 USPS First Class) = $39.00.

Thanks for the input. I already bought two of the $15 mobos but I wasn't sure if I wanted to use it for my final build or not lol. I will look at downgrading the CPU if it's not going to make much of a difference and maybe going for the 8gb of ram.

I have a G630 in my HTPC. It's nice.

I would not - not- Recommend it.

Your original idea is fine.

I just paid a little less for mine. $61 I think.

You can get $49 G620 at microcenter all day long and for $11 it's a tough call. I might use that $11 for 8GB of DDR3.

Mind providing me a link to some memory? Couldn't find one quite as cheap as you mentioned for the 8gb.

15% off coupon from NewEgg I used at the time.

You can follow along with multiple low cost builds here:

I linked it all-
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...1404685&page=9

That is the most recent page- You can see I built myself a $300 HTPC and spec-ed out a $200 HTPC too.

I included pictures.

If you start from page 1 you will see I built about 5 HTPC's with multiple deals on components- and finally settled on my own HTPC specs on the last page.

The other PC's were for friends and such...

I have used both of those and would recommend without hesitation.

Memory prices had been lower recently in the past. They are creeping up.

Your victim of the market.

First half of this year same memory was 5-10$ cheaper...
