System info:
TV: LG 47 3D LED
Receiver: Pioneer Elite VSX31

PROBLEM: When I go to the internet through the TV to watch either youtube or Netflix, I am not getting any sound. The actual tv show that is on is still playing even though the picture on the tv is the youtube or netflix show.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!

It all depends on how your system is wired.

How are you feeding audio from the "tv show" to the receiver? Cablebox or satellite receiver? Or through tthe tv?

The picture is on tv but sound is not getting to the receiver.

I guess the sound cannot go into the "out"...so would I have to run another HDMI to the receiver? I think I got it, i need a way to get sound "out" of TV to the receiver...what is the best way?

Unless both the TV and the AVR support ARC (Audio Return Channel), which from Pioneer's website it appears that while the VSX-33 does, the VSX-31 does not, you won't be able to pass the TV audio back to the AVR over the HDMI cable that connects the AVR to the TV. In this case, you'll want to connect an optical cable from the TV's optical audio out jack to the AVR.

Oh, and make sure you plug the optical cable into an unused input on the receiver, you'll then have to switch to that input when you want to listen to netflix or whatever.
