None of those links provide much if any information. In the first and third links it refers to the AV-7701 as an A/V Receiver not a prepro.

With Marantz they call their receivers SR-****, and their processors AV-****.

The SR-7007 is the new receiver to replace the old SR-7005.

The AV-7005 will be replaced by the new AV-7701.

Expect the AV-7701 to be mentioned by stores in Oct. 2012.

That does seem silly doesn't it?

I was thinking about Reviewing it... eek.gif

As an owner of the av7005 and somebody who is always willing to get a new toy, I fail to see what this unit brings to the table over the current model. 4K upscaling?????

It almost seems that unless you really need a 7.1 analog input or balanced outputs that the Denon 3313 would be the more affordable choice over the AV7701. I realize it is not an actual prepro but I would guess it would have similar or the same SQ as the AV7701 for much less. Of course that is if you really has the need to upgrade from the AV7005 wink.gif. At this time I feel the Denon 4311 is the best choice as it has XT32 and at the current prices is much less than the AV7701 will be.

Seems to suggest HDMI 4K with Overlay and that FLAC192 support will follow with a firmware update. I think I will order one of these when they release (I need XLR).
As would be expected considering that both options are also available on the 5007, 6007, and 7007. Although it will be interesting to learn whether using the XLR makes any difference over using the RCA as it was determined not to be the case with the AV7005 over cable distances < 10'.

It appears the AV7701 will replace the AV7005. Price of the 7005 has been reduced and the 7701 is supposed to be available to dealers late September. I am an authorized reseller for Denon CI and Marantz.

I'd buy a Marantz, but they are just behind everyone else. I don't understand their logic. No XT32? Just mind boggling..

Huh? The Denon 3313CI doesn't include XT32 either.

Without XT32, can one find happiness? I'm so happy with our SR5007 and it only has MultiEQ XT. Have you listened to a system based on a Marantz SRx007 with only MultiEQ XT? Lots of love for our Marantz setup.

The 7701 is a brand new pre/pro, to be introduced perhaps 2 years after the 7005. So I consider it not having XT32 a major flaw also.

Onkyo/Integra does have XT32. But I don't want to buy something made by them. I want Marantz to get on the ball and offer something with XT32.

Ignorance is bliss my friend. If you heard XT32 you would have buyers remorse! The point is,for Marantz a high class receiver manufacturer not to have XT32 on their higher end receivers is just laughable. There is no reason for them not to have it,of course unless Denon is behind it and I'm betting they are. Since they own Marantz they don't want them competing with Denon's higher end stuff in that price range..

Not sure this post makes sense. They own both and want to maximize profits from both lines. This was a decision likely made by the Product team to differentiate the this model from the future 8xxx model. Is it the right decision, they won't know until sales figures come in down the line. As a consumer who owns the av7005, I see no reason to upgrade to the av7701.

I see no reason for you to upgrade to the 7701 either. Look at it this way.. Chevy owns the Corvette and the Camaro. They put the Corvette's motor in both cars, but the Vette's motor always has a little something extra. You can't tell me Marantz sat at a table and said,Hmmmm lets nix XT32 in favor of XT even tho Denon and Onkyo offer it . Onkyo even offers it on the less costly 818.. Seriously mind boggling.. rolleyes.gif

What current model Denon AVR has XT32?

Thats great that you are happy with your Marantz. Have you listened to a system with XT32? If not then maybe you should so you could understand what everyone that has gone from XT to XT32 are talking about wink.gif.

None of the 3XX3 line has it. I think only the 4XXX line does. The cheapest one I know of is the 4311.. I don't understand Denon either. Why not put XT32 on the 3313? Makes no sense.. Onkyo 818 is a much better deal.

The 4311 is not a current model. I agree that Denon/Marantz should have included XT32 in the 3313, SR7007 and the AV7701. It is fairly obvious why D&M did this as they want you to spend the big money on either the 4520 or the 8801 to get XT32. Does it make sense? Not to me it doesn't but D&M seems to know what they are doing wink.gif. If you want XT32 in an affordable AVR you'll have to go with the Onkyo.

I know the 4311 isn't the current model. I agree the Onkyo is the way to go. Personally I'm getting either the 818 or 3009. I'd be all over a Marantz if it had the XT32. I think Denon and Marantz are losing sales because of it..I'm guessing the stopped licensing it.

If you can and want to spend 3K, the Marantz AV8801 will have XT32 (and 11.2 DSX). Basically a Denon 4520 sans amps.

So they are keeping it at the upper price point.. Brilliant.. rolleyes.gif

Why would you expect it to be offered below the upper price point? If it was, who would purchase the top model?
