Klipsch Build Up or Start Over?

I haven't purchased nice speakers in a decade. However, I'm about to purchase a Panasonic Viera P65VT50 and want to updated my accompanying sound system. I have two floor standing Klipsch RF3 IIs, a Klipsch RC3 center channel, and a Klipsch KSW 12 subwoofer. I would like recommendations on what speaker system and accompanying receiver I should use when I purchase the new plasma TV. Thanks!

P.S. I'm considering the Klipsch RF-52II Home Theater Bundle. How does it compare?

I think you could do a lot better for $2k, but if you like the Klipsch sound...

I would go for some used RF7's and go big.

I would go for something higher up. They'd sound good in the room but it's a different level. You can get nicer systems for that money when they're on sale. What's your budget?

You'd be dropping in woofer size... I say go better or keep 'em. Is there anything lacking in the RF3 ?

I would upgrade the center and the subwoofer first.

Thanks. Okay, then I'm looking to upgrade the center channel first because we watch/listen to a lot of dialogue in movies. It looks like I can get an RC-64 for about 900... how much of an upgrade in sound quality is that?

While I did a fair amount of research about a decade ago, I'm not an audiophile... so, I just didn't know if the technology had changed (lower cost, higher quality). I have no problem with the RF3's, except I just wasn't sure how they compared (connectors, advances in design, etc.)

I'm looking for as much quality as I can get for no more than 2.5K. What would you consider a nicer system? Thanks.

Welcome to the Forum, Anhydro,

The RF-52 Ht is a downgrade to what you have and the RF-82 HT would be comparable, but I can't imagine a WOW factor better ...Imo, the best bang-for-your-buck in the used market would be the original RF-7/RC-7 combination and if you can find them in your local market within your price range would be something to consider...then you could move your RF-3s to side surround duty and may have a grand or so to spend to upgrade something else....Fwiw, you have a nice front soundstage now. My 2 cents and i is what I've had for over 8 years without feeling the need to upgrade.

Significant, I would think.

Your RF3 are still as good as they were; speakers haven't changed that significantly.

Zen has a good alternate plan... Go used to go big. The RF-7 and RC-7 would be a significant upgrade to the system for sure, or go another way altogether with used Heritage (2.5K gets you a sweet pair of Klipschorns).

To be slightly 'Debbie Downer', I would just hold off and save up, assuming you want new. There are fairly frequently some great deals on the RF-7iis and RC-64ii.

Personally I would upgrade the fronts and relegate your current speakers to surround duty, if your space can accommodate towers as surrounds.

Best Regards
KvE

sent you a PM. as others said, since there's no problem with the system you have, save your money to get a higher up system or work on the surrounds.
