That would be soooo much easier to do if we had a real "Search this Thread" function . . .

I do. Not sure why you don't.

Browser setting? You should be able to click that and a drop down shows up.

Yes it does... but it doesn't have the useful options we had in the past to search by keywords, username, and age of the post. Personaily I always found those options very important, and used them often. But I guess I may have been the only one to do so, unfortunately . . .

Goodie!

This is now an option in preferences!. cool.gif

Show absolute timestamps in post headers

This preference allows you to always show the absolute timestamp of posts and NOT the relative version (e.g. "15 minutes ago")

I'm kinda getting used to the relative dates, but I know that was requested by many.

David, please...

I come to this site for information, not to play a video game.

I don't like the new look. It is not growing on me. Thus far, however, I have sat on my hands and resisted complaining.

But I would appreciate if you would not waste more of my time than necessary.

If you've made improvements -- as I hope these changes are -- then please just tell us what they are.

That's why I'm spending -- hopefully not wasting -- valuable time reading/posting in this forum/thread right now instead of the rest of the site.

But I don't plan on doing this forever.

So... are there other changes/improvements besides the time stamp preference and if so, what are they?

Do these changes apply to all forum members or just the paying members becasue I am not seeing any change in the preferences section.

In the future if the changes are for paying members then please say that so non paying members don't waste their time looking for these changes.

Geee...Sorry, just trying to have some fun with the guys in this thread. Nothing to stop you from using the site at all.

User preference to make the timestamps absolute (Setting inside My Profile and Account Settings)
When there is no content in the right column, the space will be used. (Like if you have the option to turn off the right side, ads, and show full width.)
The "Currently Viewing" modules will be able to be removed from all of the forum pages
The "My Profile" tab will only be selected when you visit your own profile. (It had been highlighted when visiting other users' profiles, too.)
The activity stream was surfacing links to posts that were deleted or held for moderation. Clicking these was giving users a "post not found" error message.
Various Skin issues with both Default and Black skins were corrected. (the Black one the most.) Still work in progress.

All in all, that's really all I have for you other than more items are still being worked on.

There's much more contrast in the default skin showing what threads you've posted in.

I had to log out and erase my browsing data and close my browser and reopen my browser then log back in to see the change. I was also looking in the wrong preferences section so I am sorry for jumping the gun. I am pretty frustrated with the facebook links and now starting this morning the google ad links when I open my browser becasue AVS is my home page. This problem is getting worse for me and now Huddler is saying that there maybe nothing they can do about this.
I apologize if my statement came off as harse but even posting a reply and backing up in the forum is becoming quit an operation because of these links. When I went looking for this new feature I ran into endless streams of these links so it takes the fun out of the new site. I don't get this type of problem on other non Huddler sites. If you can get rid of these bogus facebook and google ad links that would be a huge improvement for me.
I get the illusion that these links are here on purpose so I have to get a membership to get rid of them. Some forum members that signed up for membership said that they got rid of the problem becasue they now have the ability to turn off the ads. I am not saying that this is intentional but it does appear to be that way as this problem did not exist with the old forum.

I would get a membership if I could afford it but there is a really long, long line of people and businesses that are looking for more money from me but I no longer have any left to give. And most of these are ones that I can not get rid of like utilities, insurers, fuel for heat and transportation, food, all sorts of taxing athorities, etc. So if push comes to shove it will be goodbye to the forum.

Those are appreciated. Especially killing the currently viewing and time stamp options. AVS Black skin looks better as well.

If you find more skin issues, let us know...there's all kinds of little places where the design can look a bit weird that we might not catch, but a whole forum full of power users certainly will.

Glad to see I can get full screen now on every part of the forum. Since the change I noticed I had about stop checking AVS, kind of like I did with Home Theater Forum and now I never go there. So it was nice to see that when I decided to check AVS just now. So, thanks for getting rid of all that dead space on the right side.

Yeah, its a good sign that it seems the user feedback is being listened too and changes are already being made.

There is not.  Only mods and admins can make changes to thumbs/comments once they are submitted, but that's to handle cases of abuse as opposed to just taking back a point given.

I'm trying to figure out what kind of abuse is being avoided with this policy. Most forums/comment systems allow you to retract the click (painlessly) if you hit it by mistake or change your mind. I think that'd be good here.

On Tapatalk it only shows the first post while browsing the forums. Anyway to show the most recent?

What happened to the picture attachments from forum threads? I don't see them anymore.

I believe some archived attachment issues are being worked on overnight tonight.

The 3rd image of the very first post of this thread shows the go to new post icon that appears.

How about words like "See new posts" instead of hieroglyphics? Egyptians quit using them centuries ago.

Thanks, that works.
I tried that with the "no new posts" icon (when I had nothing new), but nothing happens when you hover on it.

In the past three days, I'm getting double e-mails notifications of my watched threads. This just started, never happened before.
Someone do something different lately?

Same here, double email notifications of every post to my subscribed threads. This started yesterday afternoon for me. I just started to enjoy the new forum after getting rid of the google ads and facebook link problem on saturday and now this starts to happen.
