Quick Start Guide to the New Platform - Page 2

I have all my old deleted mails in my trash.

Like the look, but pretty amazing some BASIC stuff is still screwed up....hopefully it will get fixed soon.

Can you be specific?  Is this an issue, should they be somewhere else, or were you expecting the trash to be emptied?  Trash empties automatically every so often.

Mails that were deleted from years ago were in my sent box. Did AVS save those deleted mails? How do you delete mails from trash box?

I may be missing it - is there a way of jumping to the last post in a thread?

As a survivor of the HTF transition to Huddler I'd just like to note I'll be over in my hole alternating between gently rocking myself in silence followed by the occasional giggle and then screams of pain.

The post here explains how that works, near the bottom.  The link takes you the most recent post.

SUGGESTION: The flag icon to report a post is very distracting, at least on the black view. Could it be moved, or possibly recolored, so it doesn't stand out quite as much?

QUESTION: When I load up a forum page, ie http://www.avsforum.com/f/89/speakers, I can't easily tell what are the new posts since the last time I was browsing. Is there a setting I'm missing? Somewhat related, the box that used to show the last time I visited has disappeared. I know I can see it in the profile, but I liked that.

I agree, hopefully this will be addressed. Worked much better before.

I've been with Huddler for a little over two years which means I wasn't around yet when we converted HTF. However we have been steadily building out and improving the platform in that time, working hand in hand with the HTF crew on literally hundreds of improvements and new features. We are super excited to be working with you all now and I know your feedback and ideas will keep making the platform better. So let us know what you need! I hope you give this top priority. It is a big preference of mine also.

Does iespell work in the new format? I'm not seeing it as an option when I post. Is there another spell check perhaps?

also- just a suggestion, but more emoticons wouldn't be bad. Most sites I use have 10x AVS amount. Good luck with the new format- must have been a lot of work to change over.

I'll check into that. Right now I think both skins use the same icon set. If it's feasible to separate the two, I do see your point. Thanks for the suggestion.

Thanks! I see what you mean, but it's very subtle on the black skin. Even knowing to look for it, I have a hard time telling the difference. Also, this just helps for threads that I've actually read. Let's say I checked the forum at 9am, didn't read anything. Then I come back 3 hours later...there's no easy way to tell what threads have new posts since 9am, and without the 'last time logged in' box, I can't tell where to start scanning. I don't know that there's an easy way to solve this, it's a problem I encounter on most forums.

Just as a thought, I switch between my work computer (23" monitor) and a tablet. I'd love the ability to set different width preferences on each; on the tablet, I want the full width, on the widescreen monitor, I want the limited width. I'm guessing this can't happen, but it would be nice. Maybe a userscript would work?

I use the iPhone app to access the AVS Forum and there was NO warning to me the end user that support or connection was going to end. Why was this not conveyed by email or popup! I'm sure I'm not the only one wondering what happened or how to connect

Actually David did try personally calling you to let you know but he did not have your number.

Actually it was posted for a few weeks that the app would stop working once the upgrade was done. The site should support Tapatalk later tonight which is much like the customer AVS softwar you are use to.

Sticky thread activity needs to be shown. I don't want to guess if people have been posting, and I want to be able to go to the last page. So far this is the worst part of the update...besides the jumbo ads and "currently viewing" box taking away from the overall experience, of course.

I have to add my vote to make reverse order a top priority. Coupled with browser favorites it's the fastest, easiest (read: I don't have to learn the intricacies of all the various BB systems out there) way to keep up with the longer forums I follow.

And you have only been here for 5 years!

Awesome job! Change is always difficult for people, but we will manage to adjust.

I have to chime in on the "reverse order" or "newest post first" sort function, as this is a basic user function...

No one wants to read the first post of a three year old thread... LOL

AVS has essentially destroyed the usefulness of the Forums for me.

I use my iPad exclusively to access the Forums to which I subscribe.

Now the iOS APP no longer works and the pointers to the unread posts are gone.

Have you been taking lessons from Microsoft in how to annoy users and waste their time?

I don't like the new look and feel. It's pretty cheesy.

The look is ok, it's just trying to use it.

Go try doing a C&P, insert a photo or anything other then a simple post and see how you like it.

What trouble are you having with inserting an image into posts?

I like the new look especially now that I can change the background color. My conundrum is if I pick the black background I have to use my reading glasses to see the white print. And if I use the light colored background I can see the print but now I can see the floaters in my eyes. If you can avoid it don't get old.

Sorry to hear that. You will be able to use Tapatalk later tonight as Scott pointed out. But more exciting, is that we are developing a full blown mobile experience on AVS that will honestly be a much improved experience. Stay tuned for this in the next few months.
