What version of vBulletin is this? Here is another site that I frequent that upgraded their forum software but looks and feels much better. http://www.audizine.com/forum/

This can't still be vBulletin is it??

If you use a previously inserted image and use that as opposed to re-uploading a fresh copy, the name of the file is not added, just the file size. You can't rename that attachment either.
When you add multiple attachments, spaces are p[laced between each attachment line. each time you edit the post, an additional space is added. I ran into this in another forum (using some other software) when it came to hitting the 'enter' to add spaces between paragraphs. An extra blank line is added each time. Instead of one, there are two.

example;
http://www.avsforum.com/t/1414002/epvision-phd-vrx-owners-thread#post_22103077

BTW, no problem using Opera's spell checker here, just a original post in a thread. Also, no problem with that URL C&P operation above. confused.gif

Add my vote for adding this feature ASAP.

This isn't vBulletin at all. It's the Huddler platform.

Ok two posts, one with the attachment problem, the other none. Note, no problem here either;

Is Huddler kind of like VerticalScope where they go around buying up all the good sites and turning them into platforms that focus more on revenue generation than ease of use for their users?

I know it took a lot of work to make the transition to the new platform and I don't want to offend anyone, but my god it makes all the recent transitions from VB3 to VB4 look tame in comparison.

It would appear so.

How much time do you have Andy, we could be here all day =) I've marked myself as a thorn in the side of Huddler over time at HTF, I don't need to do so here or to stir up more ill feelings, I suspect there will be plenty of that without me. And if not so much the better. I enjoy both sites but Huddler has been the worst thing to happen to HTF in my experience, hopefully that does not happen here. If you wanted to boil it down to two remaining issues, I'd say:

Huddler's inability to provide a reasonable Mobile experience is the worst part of the tech transition and it's still a mess today. With the size and scale of AVS vs HTF I am getting popcorn to see how the users here react to the transition of this site.
Speed still remains an issue, and reliance on external apis to sites like Yahooapi.com etc remain something that I am leery of from both security and future capability points of view.

You used to be able to put the page# and post# in the URL and go directly to that post. It no longer works. It now brings you in at the page but not the post.

Were both of these created today? Or was the one with the problem older and was imported incorrectly?

Both today.

That link will take you to the post itself, the URL it contains is what you can use to link individual posts elsewhere.

I'm not sure what is exactly going on with it, but the Blu-ray PQ Tiers (a sticky thread in the Blu-ray forum) do not load at all anymore. The data is still there when I go to edit it, but it does not show up on the page. Here is the link:

http://www.avsforum.com/t/1168342/the-new-pq-tier-thread-for-blu-ray-rankings#post_16943384

Is there a new, lower character limit on each individual post? That might be a problem for the Tiers.
I already commented before on why i don't really like this change and now that it's up i don't like it even more because it slows down my computer so much. My computer is pretty old but the old style worked fine. This one drags my cpu. And when in bed i always liked to use my psp since it has a browser. But this site doesn't work on it. Whatever software you guys are using doesn't work with the psp because everything in just blank. I can only see the text and nothing is in order.

Another problem i have is the default avatars. Isn't it a little redundant?

(This probably took me an extra 10 minutes to post because your new software rapes my cpu)

The reply box can still come down several shades. It's still someone blinding when viewing a mostly black screen.

Come to think about it, why not just have it black or charcoal with white type?

Our character limit is pretty high.  Let me forward this over and find out what the issue is.

We're working on that now.

My list of subscribed threads survived the change-over, but my "most recently read" lists did not. Every one of my subscribed threads now shows all posts as unread. "go to first unread post" always goes to post #1.

Am I missing something, or do I have to manually re-catch-up all my subscribed threads?

As much as I hate vBulletin, Huddler is like moving from a Pinto to a Yugo. The feel, look, and function is worse than vBulletin.

Yes, for each existing thread you have to find the end manually the first time. It will remember "next unread" thereafter.

The data couldn't be transferred over from vB, so unfortunately everything does show up as unread.  You can mark ALL forums read if you'd rather start off the other way around (this is what I do, so I only see new activity).  This should be less obvious in the coming days as you navigate the site normally.

BTW... I am royally pissed I lost my ™ on my user name. That has been with me for almost 20-years.

I'm looking into that to see if that can be restored for you.

Edit:  Okay, apparently it's not possible, not even manually on the backend, to add a symbol to the username.  If I could do it in just a one-off case for you, I would, but I checked with Engineering and it would be stripped from the field regardless.  I can make whatever other changes you want, if you'd rather be Killroy(tm) or something.  Just let me know.  Sorry about that.  frown.gif

Instead of subscribing,
I used to Advanced Search by my user name,
and that would show me a list of every thread I'd posted to,
sorted by the most recent posting date and when I clicked on it it would take me to the first unread post.
Worked very well.

Now the Advanced Search doesn't show me the threads I've posted to.
I can search for posts that I've posted, and that shows me the posts I've made, but not the threads. There are a few threads that I'm curious about when someone posts something new to, that I have no way of finding now.

Also, again within Advanced Search, if I click on 'titles', it says:
No posts found for "title:(Search AVS Forum)"

You can see all your own posts (or anyone's) in the dropdown menu for your username in any post, or on the left hand column of your profile.

Hi Guys and site Developers,

Sorry to say but I just can't get used to not popping to the latest post on the top of the screen when ever I hit my bookmarks for a certain thread! It is a PITA!!! Once a doctor told me there is no such a thing in the world that someone can get used to pain! It must be cured!! NASA is planning a manned voyage to the Mars, so I think putting back the latest post to the top of the page is really not much to ask, eh? Or is it?

Come on Developers!!biggrin.gif

Rant over!

Using the latest Safari for Windows (Webkit, should render similarly to Chrome) none of the "Search this Thread" "Preferences" etc. buttons are working at all, either in topics, or the ones to edit my profile page. They just append a # to the end of the url as you might see with a pop-up for example, and scrolls to the top of the page, but nothing else happens.

The Forums dropdown (at least I assume it is, because an arrow shows up when I hover) doesn't do anything in Safari or Firefox 13. When I select a new forum and hit the go button on the forum nav to switch between sections, it briefly shows the correct forum and immediately takes me to the main index. (http://www.avsforum.com/f/) simply selecting the forum without hitting go does nothing.

Can't see a way to change themes on the page at all, it's only since I logged in that it has switched to the new dark theme—which is very uncomfortable to read now. It's light text on black rather than light grey on dark grey, which is far too high contrast to read in a darker room. All the quote/reply buttons etc. are white now too. Seems like this was very low priority.

The new default white theme is uncomfortable to read too. There are other "white" pages on the web that are fine to read, but something about this is uncomfortable. Perhaps it's the blue on white, with a dark grey background.

Not sure it was tested on iPad either, the ads are taking up almost half the screen on the topic listing, and each topic name takes up about three times the vertical space it used to, meaning there's significantly more scrolling required:
photo06-06-2012231921p79it.png

On the plus side, it doesn't bug me to install an app twice every time I visit the forums with it now—first for hitting the homepage, and then for actually viewing the forums. (but I'm sure you'll "fix" that later...)

Edit: and now I have an avatar I didn't select, apparently.
