Hi,

The "Go to first new post" takes me to the very first post of every thread I've looked at. Did we lose all the user-specific counter/cookie data that used to take me to the actual "first new post"?

Sorry if I'm just missing something. Thanks ahead of time for your answer/clarification.

You are correct, the way that data was stored on the former software wasn't something we could access and transfer on over.  So right now, everything will show as unread.  Sorry about that, there wasn't much we could do in this instance.  It should be a bit less annoying in a couple of days as everyone gets back to their normal browsing activity.  You also have the option to mark ALL forums read, if you'd rather start from that point instead.

Looks very nice but it is a performance hog, my netbook is lagging like crazy trying to browse topics. The android mobile app is still broken as well (and getting poor reviews on the app store) it is my primary method of posting to avs and I would love to see it get a similar facelift.

Can't "reply" to individule post can only "post a reply"

and iPhone no longer available
Guess you need to create new one and await approval from apple

I am on iPad and ca not edit above post either

It used to be that when I looked at a topic it would change color in the forum view. It made it easy for me to spot the few topics I was following in a forum -- is that functionality still available?

The old app will no longer function, but the more popular Tapatalk app will come online for AVS hopefully by late tonight.

Great... I loved the old app, I found it far easier to use than the actual forums. (aside from the broken spoilers) Is there a free version of the tapatalk app on the Android Market?

The Android AVS app was updated not too long ago, maybe they can release an update that makes it work with the new forums...

Is Forum Runner also going to be added? I have both but prefer Forum Runner due to some features it has which makes things a bit nicer if your have several forums and I also have 1 forum doesn't support both(2 if you count AVS that never supported either outside of the branded app).

Nope, not a winner. All should have been carried forward. I paid good money.

Is there any way to change to time & date of postings back to the earlier format of stating the actual date & time of the posting? I find using hours & minutes or days & hours confusing. For example if I know I posted something June 1, 2012 it was easy to scroll back to June 1, 2012 and look at the replies. Now I have to figure out how many days & hours that was. Or if I want to look at replies since I shut of the PC last night I have to calculate how many hours that was, instead of just looking at postings since 12:00am for example.

Hovering over it gives you a true time stamp, but there's no way to toggle it as of right now.

Wow! Durned impressive! Thanks....to say the least!

Looks fresh... thought I was on the wrong site at first... I'm sure some of the issues people are mentioning will be addressed in time. The screen width seems to have been defaulted to wide now as an example.

Thanks!

There is a preference to make all the pages in the forum area full-width so they take up your entire window.
From any thread page, just click the "Preferences" link near the top, then select "View Forums Full Width" = Yes
Thanks for posting! We really hope you enjoy exploring the new platform!

I have that checked but I only get full screen when reading a thread. Before everything was full width since I am a member. I never bothered turning the Ad's off before since they were on the top. But I did turn them off now because of being on the side. I don't like only when reading threads having full screen with all the wasted space left on the right side. This makes no sense to me and I see no reason to stay a club member if that is not changed. I have tried 3 computers and its the same on all of them, using IE9.

I will get used to the new forum, but I highly prefer the old mobile app. Will a new one be implemented?
I was a long time lurker, and only recently started to post, but I love this change. I'm sure long-time members will take some time to adjust, but I think this is just great. Also, great idea to go HTML5 for the mobile side of things!

Yep...having such a prominent visual element in the lower left corner in every post is not a good idea. And you have to keep in mind that it's a button which you rarely use. I have never reported a post to a moderator actually.
I would recommend the following:

• change the color to green
• put it in the upper right corner

Hey Dave,

I just tied posting a screen capture to another thread and noticed something that I think is going to be a big issue for this forum.

With the old forum, if we stayed under some limits, it was possible to post an image and the forum software would not resize or recompress the image. But in this new forum there doesn't seem to be anyway around it resizing and recompressing the image. This doesn't matter for most forums, but on AVSForum, we have a long history of posting screen caps to point out video artifacts. Up till now, we were able to crop our screen caps to keep them under the limits so that when we posted the image, we knew that what we uploaded would be what everyone on the forum would see. But now, when the forum automatically resizes and recompresses the image, it adds artifacts that obscure the artifacts that we were trying to expose.

If there's anyway to make the new forum not perform any manipulations on images that fall under some reasonable limits, it would sure help us be able to maintain the high level of discussions about video image quality that have always distinguished AVSForum from those other lesser forums. wink.gif

Missing the old site, the new one looks like a 12 year old designed it. frown.gif

Thanks for this note! (Someone pointed me to it.) I have alerted the team to see what may be able to be done in this regard. (We have a list as you may guess, but we are working though them as we can.)

Thank you again.

Yes, and the yellow text was much better than the white text we now have with the black background.

The default color scheme, which is all you can get without logging in, is absolutely horrible.

The colors on the default are the same here as they were on the other site. Even used the same hex code numbers. So this I am not sure about why it may be differnt.

Thanks
