Buck's HT construction begins...help!

The room is roughly 21'x31' with hvac running thru 1/3 of the ceiling which lowers the ceiling from 10' to 8.5. I have attached pics to show my attempt. Hopefully, someone can offer help as it relates to layout and acoustical treatments. Any help will be appreciated!

Hi Buck. Welcome to the forum. With respect to construction, at this point it's a matter of if you plan to soundproof or not. If so, the framing and construction would go in one direction, and if no soundproofing you'd proceed with framing in the other direction.

Thanks for your reply. That's a good point you have raised. I have sound clipped &GG the ceiling with 3 sheets of drywall. The walls were GG with 2&3 sheets. I will be sound proofing HT and was inquiring about the proper way to soundproof. Do you have further recommendations as it relates to soundproofing?

Buck,

That structure is a great starting point. All 4 walls decoupled, preferably also disconnected from the original joists. Ceiling drywall decoupled. All mass is damped. Absorption in the cavity. All great. Install a mat and float a plywood floor on it.

Hopefully you can avoid having the theater share a wall with the stairwell. Shield any support beams and columns. Shield ductwork in the ceiling.

Now you have this great bunker, and now need to cut a bunch of holes in it. Door(s), ventilation ducts, outlets, recessed lighting, access panels all will detract from your soundproof bunker. That's where the details count.

Having trouble deciding how to treat stage with columns. Should I cover stage surfaces with GOM fabric directly to drywall and wood? Picture attached to thread. Thanks
