Help needed!!!! Panasonic ae2000u powers on and goes off in 10 seconds.

Have had the unit about 2 years. Second owner. Know the first owner.

As the title states, the projector has worked faithfully and then suddenly stopped working. It powers on (green light) and then powers off immediately. No lights other than the power light are illuminated (now red). No image on screen.

I replaced the lamp (with a real Panasonic et lae1000 lamp and filter) thinking this was the issue. The Lamp helped somewhat in that I have an image on screen for about 5-10 sec. But the unit still powers off.

What is actually wrong here? Is this a power entry module issue? I have not changed the power input method on this unit at all.

Anyone have a similar issue and if so what was the resolution? What kind of repair cost am I looking at? Should I be looking at another projector?? (I can afford a lamp, not really another projector... frown.gif )

Thanks!

Being that you've already changed the lamp and filter (with genuine Panny parts, no less), that eliminates the two most likely culprits. You mentioned "power entry module "; is that a known issue w/this model PJ? Didn't know about that issue w/this PJ, but based on the symptoms you're having, it seems that the lamp isn't getting enough juice to stay lit. Have you recently experienced a lightning strike or brownout in your area? It sure sounds like a hardware issue, unfortunately. Have you moved the PJ lately? Bumped it? Possibly (only guessing) some wire or daughterboard that should be firmly plugged in is only making intermittent contact? I'm a network admin/computer guy by trade and see this problem all the time in user PCs and on the ocassional server that's been worked on. Things get plugged back in, but not securely so connection passes electricity but can't carry the full load it's supposed to. Good luck and please do let us know what the problem was. Posting fixes always helps someone down the road.
