AVS "Pros" that may WANT to help, but would rather point to a six month or year-old post (that they know exists) rather than wasting 20 minutes typing a "new" answer, can't find the old post either. Thanks to the severely deficient Huddler search.

For questions I didn't already know the answer to, this was probably my No. 1 tool in helping people get the answers they were looking for, and now I can't even find the data without using an external search engine, sometimes having to take multiple shots at it. It's very cumbersome, and I'm much less inclined to even bother with it anymore. Unless the search function here is improved dramatically, directing them to Google will likely be the "help" I'll be giving them moving forward.

How does it work for you?

Ron

That's cool. As noted I do the same at HTF as a 'greeter'. I made that post to note that this isn't just me spouting off because I think it will happen, I have years of experience on another Huddler site seeing it happen every day.

Sorry if the other mods thought I was also talking about that referenced thread, I never even looked at it. I am speaking in general terms as someone who has front line experience as a member (remember: not an owner or mod!) how the traffic that Huddler directs to the sites I love are of dubious quality. At this point I think anything I say further about how Huddler is atrociously bad from a user's perspective is just redundant but I did want to confrm the suspicions of the poster I was referring to.

That's what I'm waiting to hear. Blowing off the hitting ever damn stroke twice for the GD tooltips which have been killing us for a year now on other huddler sites doesn't bother you???

Most of the Huddler replies make me want to vomit. Do you really think we are too stupid to see obvious marketing speak when it's right in front of us? Do you really think any of us are delusional enough to believe that this change has anything to do with "improving" the community? If you're going to continue blowing smoke up my arse, at least learn how to make it not sound like another damn advertisement.

Rest assured though, Huddler, I have every ad and script blocked, and that's the way it's going to stay. I don't want you making a single dime from me, and hope your business crashes and burns. I'm tired of cookie cutter crap like yours turning the web into a sea of unoriginal drivel so you can spend more time selling ads. Make no mistake, my decreased (and probably soon to end) use of this site is entirely because of you. I can only hope that someone was smart enough to put an escape clause in the contract, and that they use it. I want to support AVS, but as long as there is a chance that that money may end up in your pockets, it's not happening.

Thanks for nothing.

Also, why is it, that if you block someone, that you can still click on the "hidden post" link, and show what they posted? If I or someone wants to hide or block someone, the last thing we want, is to have them show up in the threading. Even better, if someone could design a site, that the person you block, is unable to reply to your posts in turn.

So again, those of us that block people for certain reasons, we should not be reminded that said person who is blocked, has posted, or even acknowledge that they have posted in a thread. At least the old PHP site was better in how it handled this stuff through the SQL dbase.
